I was a member from 2013 – 2015 and again 2016-2019. I canceled my membership last month for personal reasons. Here's my 2 cents:
Routes - The routes are fun and challenging. One of the key route setters left a bit ago, so a lot of the setters are new. Because of this, the ratings have been debatable recently. Trust your judgement over the route's rating. Holds get greasy quick.
Safety - Lacking. Holds sometimes twist mid route. Happened to me throughout my 4+ years climbing there. Saw a hold literally rip off the wall, but that only happened once, to my knowledge. The work out area is regularly flooded with under aged kids who are usually not monitored and goofing off.
Community – Overall, very welcoming and you can always find friendly folks. The SCC also holds member appreciation nights, which are a blast. There is an elitist group of climbers in the gym that are unfortunately given special treatment. Rules and updates to the gym are based on their opinions, which can be frustrating to other long-time members not associated with...
Read moreI'm very impressed with this gym. It's a good mix of modern and traditional bouldering. There were many different styles of problems and styles of holds. The walls, volumes, and holds have course texture. There's a lot of different equipment for training and the building has history. There's a signed Chris Sharma poster on the wall. There is a really cool comp wall with three grades, and even the easy grade had excellent setting. Generally the setting in the gym was gratifying. The problems flow nicely and could be projected in a session at your grade level. The other folks in the gym are super friendly, from beginners to advanced, but mainly a cool crowd. The staff was kicking around a soccer ball and there was a cute dog. There is good music and good atmosphere. I've been to about 50 climbing gyms and this is easily in my top 5. Will definitely go out of my way for this gym in the future. When I bought a day pass, A+ for not asking if I needed rental gear (can't believe I have to say...
Read moreI love this place. The pricing is great (pretty low starting price + many discounts), and the facility is fantastic (mostly bouldering, though a bit of toprope). All the holds are high quality, the homemade walls are great, and the routes are creative and bountiful. The community is extremely encouraging and supportive - no matter the skill level of the climber, or whether they frequent the gym or not, you'll always see people cheering eachother on. Plenty of routes for beginners and advanced climbers alike - mostly V1's through V10's though I've seen a few V11-13's. The employees set a new section of the gym every week, so the routes are very fresh and you definitely won't get bored if you climb here a lot. The owners of the business climb at the gym all the time (it seems like that's all they do) and they're all extremely chill (which is probably why the place as a whole is as well). I honestly couldn't recommend this...
