I originally had given them 5 stars while there, but I am re-doing my review. I took my grandma for her 85th birthday today. We were stunned by how beautiful the place was and enjoying our time together that we didn't hardly notice that they started us later because they were busy. Which is awesome! Go them! Our soup was delicious, the salad was great. tea was yummy but besides that the food was not good. Lots of premade stuff from Trader Joeâs (macaroons, Turkey lunch meat⊠etc) the scones were hard and dry and they only gave us one dollop of Devonshire cream no lemon curd or jam (unless we found out later if you asked for it you could have it?) We ate quickly because they seemed to be in a rush. They gave us our check after we ate one of the sandwiches. We were still on our dessert and tea when (the owner I believe) came out and said âladies we closed 10min ago soâŠâ It was 2pm. we were shocked. We apologized and tried to hurry up they cleared the saucer off the table when my grandma picked up her tea to try and finish it. My grandma asked to buy a cookbook from the front and our server said âof course!â And then checked her watch and sighed.
This place could have been really great but might I suggest giving longer time slots (more than 1.5hrs) for those who pay for the high tea experience? And/ or start âthe clockâ when the first thing is served not for the time the reservation says online. There just wasnât enough time other people were having to box things up and told to leave. Super uncomfortable way to end a tea. If you are going to charge the prices that you do thatâs fine, but make it worth it. We both felt as if we were given what was left over in the kitchen. Because we were the last reservation for the day. I saw other pictures of the high tea and this didnât seem the same (tiny messy small sandwiches, no fruit, not great dessert etc)
I wish this place was worth it so we could come back because the place was magical and the idea of a tea house in town is awesome! But the quality makes me think people will come to try it out for the first time and...
Read moreFirst let me start by saying, five stars means you should definitely come here, but if you happen to be a high tea aficionado, be sure to temper your expectations, as this experience is a different, albeit still phenomenal experience. If you are used to Browne palace, Miramount, etc, then you should aware that this establishment has much more of a small business ma and pa sort of experience. It is beautifully adorned, and the teas and food are certainly worth the price, but the staff is a more personable and friendly than you might expect from other fine dining establishments. Dare I say it, perhaps too friendly? As a 99th percentile extrovert, those words written out are not something I ever thought I would write, however, our host_ the husband of the primary owner, _ was the loveliest person, but I wish I could have met him in a different context because he seemed like the type of person youâd want to have as a friend. I would say only that his anecdotes trailed on just a tad too long. I wouldnât want him to change or become less personable, because that seems like the natural vibe of the place, I just wish that it aligned a bit more with the ambiance of both the establishment and the marketing. I would also say that the unlimited tea of the high and afternoon teas_ that can be swapped with any other tea during your time there_ are far superior to places like Browne Palace and Miramount where you are limited to one, but with hot water refills. That said, and I think this is completely fair, know that if you order a pot of tea a la carte apart from the afternoon or high tea experience, they do not have a feasible way of just giving you hot water. This wasnât a problem for me, as I think you should be buying the afternoon or high tea experience if you want multiple pots, but it might disappoint someone who was unaware.
In summary, weâll be back, and you should give this...
Read moreABSOLUTELY adorable!!! My friends and I came for high tea and it was spectacular. We made reservations for a Sunday afternoon. There was plenty of parking outside, most of the spots you pay for with Parkmobile but parking was very affordable. I think I paid $5 for 2 and a half hours, and the high tea is an hour and a half so it was great. The whole place is decorated with such beautiful detail. When we arrived the SWEETEST man, Steve, greeted us and showed us to our seats. He was so welcoming and talked to us about some things before his wife the owner came over to greet us. She was also so nice and informative. I absolutely love that they have gluten free accommodations for the high tea. I was able to get the gluten free scones and sandwiches and my friend was able to get the vegetarian one. The starter soup and salad was truly delicious. I usually do not care for fruit in my salad or nuts but this combination of flavors with the goat cheese and the dressing paired incredibly well and I like something new now! The soup was hands down my favorite. There was a sandwich on my tower that had curry and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed all the flavors. Then we were able to choose from a big variety of bottomless tea flavors! This was a very cool experience as we each got our own little tea pot of whatever flavors we chose. I tried hazelnut vanilla and cookies and cream teas. Overall, the experience was so lovely if you're looking for an outing for girlfriends or a daughter birthday party or even bringing your mom and grandma. I so enjoyed reading their beginning story in the entrance about Georgia as I am a...
