Seriously is there something in the drinking water because people seem to be praising a lot of restaurants in Colorado Springs to be great and they’re not. I mean the food here is OK to be truthful. I’ve had better food from a cart off the sidewalk that was selling Mexican food then I did it this place Literally went there with some friends place was jampacked too many tables to close together I was in a wheelchair was very uncomfortable for me. Everybody’s looking at me like why are you in here because I want to eat some torchy’s and unfortunately they don’t even have room for anybody to get around inside the restaurant. It took me 20 minutes to get to the bathroom . Just trying to figure out how to get around inside the Van and to top it off I ordered a meal which I paid $16 for and got three little wraps with a little bit of meat in it and some dipping sauce on the side. I believe the price is ridiculous I believe if you’re going to serve food if you’re going to charge $16 for a plate of corn tortillas that are basically as big as 4 inches I’m gonna put a picture in here it’s from their online site. Basically you get this for 16 bucks and if you want something to drink while that’s extra don’t forget the tip because if you don’t tip you look like a well you know what I mean someone told me that Colorado supposed to be some kind of new food Mecca for great food while I haven’t seen it yet and I’ve been here two years seems like the food industry is lower to expanders so that food that is just Soso. It’s has somehow become great cuisine I mean are they spiking the water that you get before you get your food so that everything taste great I don’t get it I really don’t and the only way that these restaurants are going to. Step up to the plate and start making some good food. Decent size portions, especially for $16. Then I believe the people eating there should step up their standards and not eat subpar food for extraordinary prices. Do you wanna make food great you Gotta stop paying huge prices for...
Read moreFlew in with some friends in a small plane to Colorado Springs to pick up his son from the AF academy for THX, and hit Torchy's on the way.
He has eaten at Torchy's a few times and said this one was good today, but is generally the worst one in the area. In reading prior reviews, it seems like there may be some inconsistencies between visits that result in poor ratings.
My review is based on my visit, and I give it 4.5 stars. Everything was stupendous, except for the customer service at the end, which is why I deducted half star.
Everything about the restaurant was pretty neat. The exterior was clean and stylish. The interior was well designed, and followed the theme of the business.
I ordered the trailer park and the bushfire. I can't remember what's it's called, but you can get it smothered with a queso for a little more $. I forgot to ask for it, and the waitress brought me out a bowl, so you can see before and after pics of my food.
I thought the food was outstanding. The trailer park chicken was very tender and juicy, and the flavors were on point. I think the bushfire was also very good, but the flavors of the trailer park really did it for me.
The hot sauce for the bushfire hit all the marks hot sauce should hit. Has just a little bit to make the nose start to run, just enough to feel it in your mouth but not burn, and just a little bit of gut burn to let you know it's there, but not make you sick.
I have a friend at home who we share hot sauces with because we both like it spicy. When I asked for a to-go cup after we were finished, she disappeared and never came back. We waited for 10-15 min, and she never resurfaced. We snagged someone else and got a couple cups pretty quick.
The specialty juice/drinks were also low, or out. Considering we got there before the lunch rush, the drinks should have been full.
All in all, a solid 4.5 stars for this experience. They should put...
Read moreI was invited to the Soft Opening of Torchy’s Tacos and attended on Sunday, October 17.
While the food is complimentary, I did want to let people know how my experience was overall.
First off the service was fantastic - especially for a new restaurant that has tons of hype. Very good to see that they value customer service and meeting their customers face to face and making memorable connections. Great first impression.
The food came out very quick and we were excited to try it.
Now, I did want to mention one taco that didn’t live up to expectations - the beef fajita taco. While everything came out how we ordered, the beef fajita taco was almost inedible. Very touch meat and couldn’t chew through it.
Two of the other tacos - Wrangler & Crossroads (which both featured smoked beef brisket) were tasty. The brisket soaked in enough flavor to not be overwhelming and complimented the toppings well on both tacos.
The chicken fajita taco is pretty standard. Tastes like your average Tex-Mex taco. The chicken had a familiar seasoning to it and wasn’t a standout.
The Queso is what people love here and although my wife didn’t particularly care for it, I didn’t mind having a dip or two in the Queso. Very strong cheddar vibes which is good for a Queso in my opinion.
The salsa though were fantastic! Nice mild roja salsa and the tomatillo salsas (that came with our tacos) were on the money with flavor.
The chips are pretty good and the staff offered us to take some home but we kindly declined.
Overall, this place has customer service nailed down as well as cleanliness. I would advise against the shredded fajita taco but I believe you should try Torchy’s out for yourself and...
