As a local to Steamboat, we really appreciate the amazing restraunt scene that we're blessed with. It's so good that we took WAY to long to experience one of our newest additions, Brass! And it was our loss in taking so long.
The food was top notch, atmosphere exceptional, and prices unexpectedly reasonable!
Start your journey with the Triple Cream Saint Angel Cheese plate for delicate and surprising flavors. Then, move to the Steak Bites for bold and satisfying tender red meat. Compliment the steak with the ravioli of the day (share both with your spouse) and you'll have a phenomenal meal. We finished with the Chocolate Pots de Creme and the creme brule bananas were spectacular!
If you have the pleasure of being cared for by Tomas, then I promise Brass will be first on your list when searching for an evening out in Steamboat!! Don't thank me for this review, thank owner Paul, previously involved in iconic Steamboat favorites Cafe Diva and Mahogany Ridge. With such history, it makes complete sense that Brass is laying the groundwork to becoming one of...
Read moreAs a long(ish) time local, I’d begun to feel like the food scene in Steamboat was growing stale and overpriced. Enter Brass, liked a caped superhero, to set the new standard for dining in town.
The menu has a large reach and is satisfying across the board. Starting with an app we had the Broiled Raclette - a dish I’d only heard of from a local Steamboat Olympian who’d spent time competing in Europe. Brass’s take on these cheesy potatoes lived up to the hype. For the main course, the Beef Roast Bordelaise evoked a homecoming to my grandmother’s cooking: warm, hearty, with everything taken care of. Chef Ryan delivers flavorful and rich dishes while averting the common mistake of overburdening the plates with butter and oils (an error that would otherwise hamper a day of powder skiing the next morning).
Paul, Bev, and Ryan have excelled in creating a fresh concept that provides attentive service, serves decadent dishes at a modest price point, and maintains an easy going...
Read moreOur son had emergency surgery and wasn't recovered to leave the house. I called to make a last minute change to our reservation, asking to reschedule rather than cancel. I was told that "you could have done a better job of letting us know in advance and now I have to fill a table and I will charge you a cancellation fee". I reiterated that I didn't plan on his surgery and didn't know how he will recover. The gentleman proceeds to ask me if my son broke something, questioning the medical emergency. I did offer to show my sons hospital discharge papers. The interaction left me speechless. Working in the service industry and with humans, unanticipated things occur. There was no compassion and all he wanted was to gain his $100 fee which is so short sighted as the restaurant lost out on a lot more than that. It is evident by this encounter that the culture of the restaurant is rude, unprofessional and...
