Phil - thank you for promptly replying to my husband’s one star rating below and your sincere apology. However, there are a few assumptions you made in response that are misguided.
we did not make the reservation online- we made the original reservation for NYE 3 months ago on the phone with a lady at your restaurant who handles reservations- no mention of pre- fixe
we called again and spoke to a nice lady three weeks ago confirming our reservation and we specifically asked if there was any changes to the menu and she said “nothing special as we will have our regular menu”
since we are 7 people, I think your response is quite rude considering we now have to re-plan our NYE plans 3 days before the event... we are now on 4 wait lists, and when your sister restaurant offered us a table time last night it was at 530pm and we must be out by 730pm.
we specifically asked for any modifications to the menu and your staff told us there were none. It is not on the customer to go through every obstacle to figure out what your restaurant’s plans are when there is no mention on your website, your staff is not knowledgeable and when no social media makes mention of it. It is not the fact that it is a set menu that upsets us, it’s the fact that we did our due diligence and your restaurant failed to do theirs. We now suffer from your poor planning- which the customer should never have to experience at a fine dining establishment.
we understand that Aurum does pre fixe for NYE, but no where was that apparent and even when we called and asked it was not mentioned. The first mention was 3 DAYS BEFORE NYE. Doesn’t that sound ridiculous and a bit unprofessional?
a review also includes hospitality of which your restaurant failed miserably before even stepping in the front door.
We were really looking forward to our evening with you and now we have to scramble for our NYE plans. As you can imagine it is quite frustrating trying to find a new plan for 7 people a day before NYE when I had had everything planned for over 3 months.
Further, your callous response to my husband after his review, especially for a “fine dining establishment,” encouraged us to let AMEX’s concierge service know (where we first found Aurum) to never recommend this place.
Maybe with the above facts and context you will see why we are so upset. Have a great NYE and I hope you do...
Read moreWent here for a drink on the patio last summer and were not impressed. The bar staff acted like we were a bother to them. Everyone kept raving about how great they are so we decided we would give it another shot for dinner. Bad decision. We showed up right before our reservation and had to wait 10 minutes before we were seated, even though the restaurant was only half full. Then we sat at our table for another 10 minutes before someone came over to tell us our waiter would be right with us and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We said water and asked if we could see a wine list. He acted like we were lying that we never got menus. Finally ordered a minute later after our waitress came. She was nice but seemed super overwhelmed, even though she only seemed to have us and 1 other table. Immediately asked us what we wanted for drinks and dinner without even telling us the specials (which my husband did end up ordering one of.. he was pretty annoyed that he had to ask) Ordered a bottle of cabernet and it came out cold- very strange for a cabernet. We ordered scallops as an appetizer. There were 2 scallops for $18 and they were so salty that they were nearly inedible. The main dishes were decent, nothing spectacular. Then the bill came and there was an extra fee for the kitchen staff. Seems the $65 that we paid for my husband's steak should be enough for them to pay their employees a decent wage. Wasn't terrible, but way overpriced for...

No candle at table while others had one. Some people were given roses and we were not so I don’t know what that was about because we had the valentines reservation. The host was all over the place and didn’t seem like she knew what was going on. Not good service. Waitress felt awkward and like she was hovering but also didn’t speak to us much. Loud atmosphere and was expecting a quiet ambiance. Acoustics must be awful because I could hear the people yelling and laughing all the way at the other end of the room. Emergency exit is a hazard because it’s blocked. (See photo) The staff ran in to me twice and everyone felt rushed even though there were several empty tables and hardly anyone at the bar. We were one of the last tables to leave for the night and the whole place just felt hectic. Lighting was good and music was appropriate for a romantic setting. The only person who I felt deserved my time and money was the bartender. He was amazing while we waited there for our table. Will not be dining here again because the prices are very high and though the food tasted great, I can get it just as good for half the price elsewhere. Try another restaurant especially if you want a quite nice dinner for 2 with good service. NOT a good place...
