Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant & Taqueria — Restaurant in Four Corners States

I have dined at this restaurant twice now. Each time I have visited with my 4 other family members. It always seems like an inconvenience for them to have to seat 5 people, although the hostesses seem very nice. The waiters have seemed rushed and uninterested in providing more than basic service. Both times, one of our group has had to wait for their meal to come late - about when everyone else has finished half of their meal. Once the order was taken it has been difficult to get the waiter's attention or service.

The last time we dined at Vaqueros I believe was December 27th 2018. Our waiter took our order, someone else delivered our meal. The waiter stopped briefly but we had already asked the busboy for more chips and drink refills. We could see the waiter chatting with the bartender and other wait staff but he did not return to our table until we had been done with our meal for at least 15 minutes. We were one of only two tables seated in the entire front room as we ate very early in the evening. The waiter was not too busy to provide excellent service, which he did not provide. When we finally got our waiter's attention, he came over and seemed super relieved we did not want to order dessert. On our previous visit we each ordered our own fried ice cream which was excellent. You would think that adding $32.50 to the bill would have been of interest to the waiter to try to pitch that sale........

Our first visit to Vaqueros was very much the same as our latest experience - once the order was taken we were abandoned by a dis-interested server. My starving husband had to wait until mid-meal to be served his food.

The food at this restaurant has always been excellent. We have always ordered different meals so we have tried 10 different items on their menu. Everyone has enjoyed their meal and like I mentioned before, the fried ice cream is a real treat. Good sized portions. I just think that they should be able to find waiters who are interested in providing good service. Some of my family members live in the Steamboat area and we would love to go to this restaurant again, but it is going to be hard to persuade everyone to choose this place a third time after receiving the poor service the...

I had my worst experience of my life here. Customer service is so cheap and pathetic. I went with my and my brother's family twice here during our 5 day vacation. The first time when we went service was ok, it was REALLY slow, it took more then 1 hour to get the food and out of 9 of us.. 2 orders were messed up .. which they fixed it but had to wait another 20 minutes. Since we liked the food there we went second time which was a nightmare. They said they will have to charge extra for salsa refill since they are short on staff. Out of 9 people, again 3 people's order got messed up. I ordered chimichanga without mushroom, I got it fixed 3 times - all 3 times they had mushroom in there.. so I never got what I ordered. It took 1.5 hour for all of our food to come. My son did not get his food until 1.5 hour. My brother who ordered with mushroom - got his without mushroom which he end up eating. THIS IS MOST DISGUSTING EXPEREINCE ALL NEED TO READ - My sister in law ordered a virgin margarita which is on their Menu for $4 - she doesn't drink alcohol, when the bill came, they charged $11, we requested to change to $4 since on Menu they have virgin for $4 - The assistant manager/owner came to our table and TASTED the left over drink to make sure there is no alcohol. This was so disrespectful, we came here with our families - 9 of us, not a bunch of teens who might try to do that.. after this, it just didn't go well.

Long but worth the read! I don’t even know where to begin. We came to Steamboat for vacation. Naturally, we googled things to do, places to see, and where we should eat. After supper this evening, I’m shook with our situation and this restaurant. I don’t know that I’ve had a worse experience. This place is HORRIFIC and I could never suggest it to anyone ever. There is another family with us so we ordered food for take out amounting to $181. We paid for cold food. Incorrect orders. And overall, not food that we ended up eating. When I called to see if they could replace a meal that was incorrect they said there wasn’t anything they could do for me. When I presented the food to the restaurant manager after being spoken to rudely in the phone, she and other employees began speaking poorly about me in Spanish(I speak Spanish- bilingual). The manager decided to “fix” my meal. It was taken to the kitchen in my view and dumped into a new to-go container and given back to me. NOTHING was changed. At this time it was pointless in trying to get someone’s help. So, this $35 meal was DISGUSTING. As was the rest of the food. I wish I didn’t have to give one star to leave a review.
