The food is great, but it's definitely quality over quantity (which personally I don't mind, but it is worth being aware of). I got the carne asada plate and it might be the best I've ever had, my one wish is that they grilled or sauted the side veggies a bit more, I personally like that texture and find it brings out the flavour in a way that compliments the rest of the plate (also sorry for the bad photo, I had started assembling my first taco before realizing I wanted to make my family jealous of my dinner). I don't think I'd recommend the margaritas though, they just aren't worth the price, even during happy hour, which only knocks a buck off the price, but hey, it's steamboat springs. In general, it is also really pricey-- including the tip, it was close to $50 for the carne asada (again, it was pretty small) and one margarita. The actual location is great, and I definitely suggest sitting out back if you can, it's very nice next to the river with a cool tree growing through the patio! I would come back again, just not for drinks, and probably not after a day of hiking or something because I would likely still be hungry.

I have family that lives in Steamboat and my wife and I always go and visit Taco Cabo, the owners are husband and wife. The wife is from the same area in Mexico as my wife is. The husband lived in Mexico and learned how to make some delicious bread or "bolillo" which my wife says she hasn't tasted anything close to what is like in Mexico anywhere in the states. One thing I always like is the owner giving you a sample of his work with his jam. This time around i was lucky cause they had pozole as a special. Recommendation is if they have it when you visit, GET IT! Aside from that the lonches or burritos. Carnitas is my always go to but all their meats are delish. Location is small and quaint. But i have to say some of the best Mexican food i had in Colorado.

I wish I hadn’t inhaled my shrimp and fish tacos to show you the magnificent homemade corn tortilla and delicious tacos but alas, I couldn’t stop eating the tacos long enough to take a picture. However, here are pics of my boyfriend’s AMAZING carne asada torta. First, the owner Kent, makes his baguettes for the tortas from scratch using old world grain flour, which I willingly admit as a Parisian, can rival ANY French baguettes from the best boulangerie in Paris. And second, if you are insane and you think the food doesn’t do it for you (not possible! I’d drive 3hrs from Denver just to eat here!), then come have a margarita for the scenery alone. The view of the river while sipping a margarita will make you never want to leave.

Came to steamboat for a get away with the family from close to Boulder. Being a real Mexican I can say this is not Mexican food. It is catered to those who go there but is far from being authentic. We went to 2 other restaurants in town and to those I am leaving a 5 star review because the food was amazing and the customer service was immaculate!!! I ordered my food for taco Cabo online it clearly stated it was 20 to 25 min. I get there and it is sloppy and messy. There is no clear path to order or pick up an order. If you order online you have to deal with the rude hostess in front taking orders. Hostess is less than what I can call her treatment to us, at least because to everyone else she seemed like she was buddies with them all. So the rude lady infront said we still had to wait because it was far from being ready..... so we wait another 15 min to receive an order that is far from what I ordered. Too bad we where going back home and could not go back and give them the food back. I paid a almost 80 for a quesadilla, a burrito and 2 bowls. And neither of them had the extras we had ordered online. My burrito hardly had meat in it and they completely forgot extra meat on the bowls. Seems like they hadn't made my order, and when I got there and they just threw it together. Honestly the food was cold and flavorless. If you want something better I suggest Qdoba because it is so much better than this place for taste and money. We have a big project going on up there in these upcoming months and when I take clients and workers to eat this will be the one place I will for sure tell them to skip. If anyone wants something better close to Mexican food I will send them elsewhere even print a map to Qdoba if they want imitation Mexican food :).

We were told that this was the place to go. We probably won't be back. My wife and I visited on July third for dinner because we heard they were going to have live music. The location is great. The backyard along the river was a very nice place to sit and listen to the music. The musicians were great. For first time visitors it was a little difficult to figure out their system. We discovered that we needed to order at the counter. There was a young lady behind the counter who didn't appear to enjoy being there and was hard to hear and wasn't very forthcoming in answering questions. We were first time visitors and didn't know how this worked. We discovered that if we wanted a happy hour margarita, we'd have to go to a different counter and order and pay for those there. Finally, I ordered a carnitas burrito, my wife had two tacos, one beef and one chicken, and we ordered some chips and salsa. The food was just OK. The burrito tortilla was heated on a skillet or something and it was so tough you couldn't cut it with a fork and had no sauce on it. It was just a burrito in a tortilla. It was pretty dry. My wife said the tacos were OK. There weren't many chips in the $5 chips and salsa. They were good, but $5 was a little steep for a few chips and some salsa. What really disappointed us were the happy hour margaritas which were in a small plastic glass that was first filled to the brim with ice and then the total liquid in it was still a 1/2 inch below the rim and the total was over $8 each. I'm sure it was made with good ingredients, but it was disappointing. So with the burrito ($10+), two tacos, ($4 each) chips and salsa ($5) and then $17+ for two margaritas, we ended up spending over $40 for a so-so meal and I was still hungry when I got back to the condo. The location was great, but not worth what you had to pay...it was a burrito and tacos. We eat Mexican food a lot and there are lots of places we like better. But hey, the music was good and I...

I am just visiting but had to notify anyone else wanting to try this for the first time how poor the food was here compared to the reviews.

The horchata was 20 out of 10 sweet. I didn't know something could be so sweet that it was painful. Had to ditch it.

We got 2 Al pastor tacos, a pork belly taco, and a carne asada taco. Only the pork belly was cooked well and good. The Al pastor is just a salty marinade with a sauce thrown on top. Anyone who has had good Al pastor will appreciate this tip to not order.

We also got the happy hour flautas. I was really looking forward to these and they looked so good, but it was so bad we had to throw 2 out of 3 away. The chicken was insanely dry and again the flavor was just salty. The food was just not seasoned well to an almost inedible degree.

The other thing is the corn tortillas weren't good here which is the base of almost everything. Our kids got the burrito and quesadillas which were not bad. The best part of the whole meal was the refried beans and rice and the nice patio and service.

We really are not food wasters. We take everything to go and finish it at home. I just knew there was no way we would eat the items I mentioned later.

MY REC IS: Los Locos. We went there the night before. GREAT dive bar vibes, food was ridiculously on point. Get the dry rub wings there and all the tacos were out of...
