Follow-up review - tried their lunch gyros today and it was excellent. Gyros meat was very tender and full of flavor, rice was cooked perfectly, and the to-go container had a separate section for the salad that kept it cool rather than being heated up by the gyros meat.
As with my prior experience, extremely friendly staff and very nicely appointed restaurant. Great job, guys!
Glad to update my review, original review remains below based on a prior visit that earned 3 stars.
Purchased takeout Saturday afternoon, after seing the great reviews I wanted to purchase a little of everything! Very clean restaurant, friendly and attractive locale. Nice to see a new restaurant open.
Middle Eastern cuisine is a favorite and I was looking forward to finding a closer option than the two nearly next to eachother in Golden, or the many on Colorado north of I-25 including a former favorite that was converted to an Urgent Care.
First, the good - very fresh ingredients in the greek salad, great flavors, nice amount of feta although I did add more Kalamata olives from my home. Hummus and Baba were very good also. Loved the garlic sauce, very sharp kick of flavor. Friendly and attentive staff.
Next, the reasons for the less than stellar overall review - my wife's favorite meat is lamb, typically we order specific cuts from the middle eastern butcher for our home consumption to avoid the "funky bits" as we call them. You know, the pieces that you take a bite of and chew..and chew...and then finally realize you've got connective tissue and need to place that bit in a napkin and discard it later. That describes the lamb kebob (pictured) After a certain number of funky bits in a single kebob, you realize it's a poor cut of meat that should have been discarded. Similar for most of the meat of the chicken shawerma; (pictured) connective tissue, some skin, some pieces that just couldn't be chewed through. Gyros meat is my favorite, it had great texture and very good flavor although a little dry, but nice with the taziki.
Final bit of feedback would be to recommend separate to-go containers, or containers that separate the items in a large combination order from eachother; when a combination of items are placed together in a large lasagna pan type aluminum container, everything gets a bit mixed together, especially the Hummus and Baba. Were I vegetarian I'd highly recommend, as an omnivore I'd be hesitant...
Read moreTo start this review, this is the best Greek food around. Very authentic and worth the money. They had 2 people working and they work harder than any restaurant staff out there. My son said once they are fully staffed it will be the best restaurant out there. This is where my issue was though, we orded a gyro plate and a Greek salad with gyro and we got a gyro sandwich and a Greek salad with chicken. The man was very nice and insisted he would fix the order but no way would I waste food and send something back that was delicious. The only reason I didn't take off a star is because they were willing to fix the order and honestly the food exceeded our expectations. Now for the best part... they have THE BEST BAKLAVA I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. My husband took a bite and said "oh my god" then I did the same, then my son followed suit. I am not the biggest fan of baklava and never go out of my way to order or eat it but if you come you must order this (we got the cashew one)! Yes, it is on the pricier side but the fresh and delicious ingredients are worth it (that garlic sauce though 🤤). One last issue I had is that there is no kids menu so if you have a picky eater my recommendation is a side of fries and a side kabob so you don't waste money on a full meal when they only want chicken and fries anyways. The restaurant was clean, the food was fresh, and the staff worked their butts off. Give it a try and keep this...
Read moreBest place for Mediterranean food in the area! I ordered the vegetarian plate. The falafel was delicious, very herbaceous, flavorful, and bright green on the inside. The texture was also also perfect, some places will blend the mix too smooth or not enough creating a gritty texture. The hummus was so good as well, smooth and creamy loaded with tahini, spices, and good virgin olive oil . The tabbouleh was so fresh and zesty, I loved the lemon zest that was added in, I havent had it like that before. The "garlic sauce" or toum had a solid "spicy" garlic flavor which meant it was made fresh, I preferred this over the white drizzle type garlic sauce most other places have. Rice was spot on as well. The fried cauliflower was a nice touch and rarely seen at other places, I need more of it!
The atmosphere was very welcoming with a small traditional wicker style seating section, the decor was very welcoming. The standard dining seating was very clean as well. The waiter was very kind and respectful, he answered my vegan friends dietary questions. My other friend had a gyro plate and it looked really good, so now I def gotta come back and try their meat selections. The only perceivable downside I saw about this place was its location was a little odd being on the exterior of the mall, but the plus side is there is easy and plentiful parking.
Don't sleep...
