If I could give 4.5, that would be more accurate. The bad - the buttermilk fried chicken was not really what we expected. It was a fillet, pounded very thin. While the chicken was cooked fairly well, the breading was very hard and crunchy, and there was far too much of it. My fiance gave it a hard thumb's down although one of our guests inhaled it. The mashed potatoes and green beans were good sides.
Our other guest had the Philly cheese steak and said it was great, which it should be for $17. I had the blackened salmon, which very good. The salmon was properly cooked, but the rub was the star. Good, but not overpowering heat and consistently spread over the substantial portion. I rarely order fish in Denver, and this was a nice surprise. I changed out the risotto and aspargus sides for the mashers and green beans and I was glad I did. I am a mashers snob, and these were really good.
Atmoshpere is nice, but very loud on a Thursday night. Our server forgot us for a long spell, but overall did a good job. Value was reasonable at about $100 for 4 incuding tip and tax. Only one beer. Most important - would we go back? Yes, for sure.
11/10 update. We went back for lunch. It was mostly empty and we were told to seat ourselves. 4 tables we passed had not been cleaned yet - dirty dishes, glasses, etc. We sat down and there appeared to be 2 servers. One server started cleaning the tables. The other walked past us a couple of times. We got up and got our own menus after about 10 minutes. The first server finished cleaning her tables and the other went back and forth several more times. Finally she came to our table, after more than 15 minutes. By now there were only two other tables with diners, and a couple of people at the bar. Not sure why we were ignored so long.
I ordered the Grilled Chicken Club on a French roll, although I swapped mayo for the honey mustard, and glad I did. It was really good. The chicken was large, juicy, and there were lots of toppings. The roll stood up to the fillings. Fresh and filling. My fiance had the Frisco steak sandwich. (I can't find it on the online menus.) It was a huge stack of shaved beef on sourdough, and it looked great. But it was BLAND! She said it had no flavor, so gave me a bite and she was right - ZERO salt, pepper, garlic, or any other seasoning.
Value was fine, but service was lacking. Will we go back again? The fiance is 0 for 2 on her meals, so no. We are now...
Read moreHonestly if I could give zero stars for the food I would. We came here for happy hour and ordered the queso, artichoke dip, and some tacos, the chicken tacos were fine but it’s kinda hard to mess up tacos in my opinion. It also took an extremely long time to get our food like 30 minutes every time we ordered. The queso and artichoke dip tasted like it was straight out of the microwave. We decided to give the entrees a go because the menu looks appealing. Bad idea. My Fiance and I had the salmon and our business partner had the fried chicken. The chicken was way over cooked and chewy, the green beans also tasted frozen, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a bag. Our salmon was extremely over cooked and didn’t taste fresh at all and honestly the guys forced down the food because they were hungry, I ate one bit of the salmon and risotto and stopped after that. We felt awkward telling our server earlier that everything was awful because it was kinda comical how bad it was. Once we got the bill I told our server that we didn’t like anything, and her and management only took $5 off our total bill, coming from someone who was in the restaurant industry for 10+ years this was unacceptable. This was one of the worst restaurants I’ve...
Read moreTried to order a single taco and a cup of soup, but apparently, you can't order a single until after 2:00🙅♀️ 🤷♀️ 🤦♀️ Was a bummer, so had to share a fish and chips plate that was mostly French fries and overly breaded fish. Soooo disappointing 😞 😔 The cole slaw had jalapeños, I think, which was also disconcerting as I am allergic, but I managed to spit it out before it made me sick. The tarter sauce was non-traditional and tasted more like an aioli..... I am not one to complain or send food back, so will chalk it up as a lesson learned. Likely won't return, but there are so many dining options in this area, that it will not be a huge loss. The atmosphere was okay, mainly sterile contemporary and it was chilly. I'm not unusually cold by nature, but luckily had a warm winter coat to wear throughout the hour long lunch experience 😨 I dine out quite frequently, so needless to say, this review is unlike most of the 4 or 5 star ratings that I usually give. The bright save on the restaurant was the server. He was efficient, sweet, and absolutely adorable. Just wish he could have asked the kitchen to make a change to the taco choices. Would have given the food a 5 star rating,...
