This place came to us as a recommendation. And we do not go out to eat often anymore as it gets pricey. After looking at the menu, I was excited to see affordable numbers. The wife ordered what our waitress told her was her favorite. Some orange looking tacos. I ordered enchiladas. We also got margaritas, one each. As we sat there looking at stuff, we noticed several disturbing things... gnats. Tiny flying bugs came with everything out of the kitchen area. Brought out with the winds of waitresses. I killed two of them on our dining surface with a napkin. Lol. Now to the food. The warm chips were just bag tortilla chips dunked in the fyer for a second. On top of watching that, they served us the chips with random fries mixed in letting us know that they use the fryer for everything. But then we were hit with the heat. If authentic Mexican means burning any taste buds out of your mouth, then they are nailing it. My wife loves hot stuff, I do not. But I was making due. Her tacos were made from roast meat. Like crockpot roast... Zero flavor... rubbery.. old. I would say dogs wouldn't eat it.. but dogs eat poop.. so they probably would still eat this. Either way, not a great look for what was supposed to be a meal served at a restaurant to humans. When we excused ourselves to go pay and escape this hell, we were shocked to learn that two small plates of wet dog food and two margaritas cost us $57.94??!?!??! I know they are right next to a place called Nash vegas... but charging LAS VEGAS drink prices is very lame. I found myself feeling quite violent when I learned the cost.. so i handed my wallet to the wife and said, I will be out front telling everyone on the street about this. When my wife, who is super nice and everything i am not in these situations, when she told the woman how awful everything was, the lady looked at her, smiled condescendingly and said, 'thank you!' Which would have made my head explode.. so i am glad i wasnt there for that part. There were giant burritos being served... maybe that is what they are known for... but wow.. knowing where they come from... I am good on that. 4.7 is a rating this place SHOULD NOT HAVE. Yuck. I rate this place one...
Read moreAl pastor; please no more!!!! Just happened through Columbia and I am always looking for some tacos al pastor. So when I went into Paleteria El Tajin, I was very hopeful. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed with the flavor. I live near Kansas City, and it seems as if so many eateries are sharing the same grainy/powderish al pastor flavoring. While not every recipe can be as delicious as the al pastor tacos I had in Playa del Carmen, once again I say this was 180° from tasty. I tried it in a taco, burrito, and in the fries. Each time a sad sad fail.
I also had the chicken tamales with red sauce, but there was no red sauce to be found. Perhaps they cooked the chicken in it, but I couldn't find any hint that a sauce had been anywhere near them. It was good, but the sauce I think would have taken it to where the flavor should've been. I tried the Cubano sandwich; full disclosure I have only had one Cubano before, and it wasn't great. This was a very tasty sandwich!
Maybe the other meats are a better choice here, but whatever you do STAY AWAY from the...

Pros: Excellent food Low prices Friendly staff Salsa bar
Cons: Limited seating in booths Chips aren't complimentary Food served in plastic baskets lined with foil, so when you cut your food you may cut the foil and accidentally end up eating it. Parking on or near Broadway can be difficult and add to the cost of the meal (bring change) The minew is fool of tiepose and mispeled wurds. Beens, chocalate, shedded, shreded, you instead of your...
Overall, I really enjoyed food, service, and prices, so I will be back. Unfortunately, because of their prices, they're either going to have to cut back on staff or portion sizes if they're going to stay in business. Just my two cents. I...
