Ragtag is the best. A fixture of the community, even. Nothing but positive experiences with them, and they do great work promoting the arts in the community. Columbia is tangibly better because Ragtag exists.
If you're complaining about their vaccine requirement being inconvenient, imagine how inconvenient it would be to get infected with COVID and be put on a ventilator because you didn't bother to get vaccinated. Pretty rough right? And how inconvenient it will be when you have to suffer the effects of long COVID because your lungs are permanently damaged. Getting winded on a slight walk sounds pretty inconvenient, too. That is, of course, if you survive infection in the first place, which is significantly less likely because you decided not to get vaccinated. Now imagine how inconvenient it will be when your father or grandmother with preexisting conditions catches it from you and you have to attend their early funeral. Not great! Wear a mask, get the vaccine. Don't give your grandma COVID and don't trash talk beloved local organizations because you refuse to do your only civic duty.
I was able to find their vaccine requirement on their front page and a five second google search also showed that they were requiring proof of vaccination. I cannot speak highly enough about Ragtag and all that they do for the community. I've only interacted with them a handful of times, but that handful was enough to know of the immense value that it has for culture...
Read moreI would like to be able to see the best movies:
a) on any given night as opposed to them showing on intermittent nights.
b) in a clean, modern setting, as opposed to a seedy porn theater motif.
c) eating high grade, tasty, fresh popcorn instead of a poor quality product.
d) without having to search for a place to park my car.
Instead, every time a really good flick comes along I have to go to Ragtag because they are exclusively showing it.
Almost as irritating is the theater's self-congratulating air of a superior intellectual appeal, as if without them we peons would never get to view quality films. I'm sure that in other cities most of these same movies are available to be seen by a wider audience than here in Columbia. True cinema lovers, it seems to me, would want that more citizens would be exposed to the best of cinema, rather than hoarding them just to themselves.
On the plus side, it's nice that Columbians have the chance to see smaller budget films that otherwise might never make it to a town this size. I understand it's necessary for Ragtag to exhibit some of the more lucrative films for financial viability, but I am sick and tired of having to accept the deficiencies set out above every time a good movie...
Read moreI had such a wonderful time at Ragtag! First of all, their website is great👌--I bought my ticket online with no issues. The staff is incredibly friendly; and the atmosphere is warm and cosy. As you enter the door, you walk through the bar area, with a bakery straight ahead and you'll find the ticket booth for Ragtag next to it. The venue is really cool; it has an industrial/retro-old school vibe to it. There also is a record store next door to visit in case you end up there early. The popcorn was okay--they do not have any of the conventional topings/flavouring/spice which I enjoy--no butter salt/sour cream & chives, but soy sauce, hot sauce, some salt and one other spice I can't remember the name of--sorry. The salt wasn't too bad. Popcorn plus my drink (Dr Pepper) was $7, which was really cool. Definitely more affordable than many other cinemas I've been to👌. The theater itself is rather small but really cosy--loved that! Also, there are a number of seating options in the cinema--chairs & couches fitted with a really cool adjustable table-thingy (can't get to the word for this--see picture below) to put your snacks on. Highly...
