First let me preface by saying I've never had problems at this Jack in the Box before, and I'm usually one to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was too bizarre not to share. My friend and I pulled up to the speaker, ordered three meals and everything seemed to be going as usual as we pulled up to the window to pay, get our food, and get on our way. Unfortunately, this is where the fairytale ends. At the window we payed the nice young lady, and she handed us one of our drinks and shortly thereafter, another woman brought me my shake. Shortly thereafter, the woman got into a shouting match with another employee, calling him out for various things, with the N word and other choice language coming out both of their mouths. This proceeded for about 15 minutes. In that time, we got two of our three sandwiches, two of our three fries, and our last drink. For those of you counting, that leaves just one more sandwich and one more fry to come our way and 15-20 minutes off the clock. Our food is getting cold as we waited another 5 minutes or so before the nice girl at the window asked if we could pull forward so our last sandwich could be made. At this point, we think we're making progress! During this time, the woman who was arguing is sitting in the patio area crying, and her boyfriend came to console her. However, after 10 more minutes of waiting, my friend and I decided to enter the store to figure out what went wrong. As we step out of the car, the girl comes out with a sandwich in a bag and apologizes. At that point, I asked for a refund after 30 minutes of waiting and listening to one of the most disrespectful things a customer should have to go through. She proceeds to explain that there was an incident, which I said we heard every word of, then has us come inside. We ask for a refund and we are made to wait another 5 minutes for her to get her manager, who we now realize is the woman sobbing in the outdoor area. Long story short, in this 5 minutes of waiting, I go to my car and looked to see if there was anything missing. I checked and found that they had made an extra burger and we were still missing a chicken sandwich. We also were asked for a receipt for the refund, a receipt we were never given. We also learned that the girl at the window and one of the other workers were new employees, both with less than a month of experience, so I have sympathy for them and they are the only reason this gets one star and I mean the ONLY reason. But the story gets better actually. The young man who was new didn't think we had any of our food, so he made us two more burgers. The only problem is that we STILL didn't have our chicken sandwich! After telling him, he threw a sandwich together and put it in a bag with an extra thing of curly fries. So, again, for those of you keeping score, that makes 5 sandwiches, 4 fries, 3 drinks, 2 unhappy customers, and 1 trip to Jack in the Box that we wish we'd never made. At that point the refund was too much to ask and we didn't know how long the manager would be to come open the drawer, so we walked out the door, food in hand and went to the car 45 MINUTES after ordering. We got to the car, drove away, and headed home. On getting home, we found the what was supposed to be a chicken sandwich all wrapped up. Problem is, the sandwich was a bun, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and mayo, and still no chicken. All in all, I know people have bad days, but it seems as though everything that could've gone wrong did go wrong. I pray that these employees aren't too rattled by this incident and that they get back on the right track, but I think it's fair to say that we won't be coming back in the near future. If there's one thing I learned from this trip it's this: Don't order a chicken sandwich at Jack in the Box. You might get more than you ask for and...
Read moreMy first 2 reviews don't paint a favorable picture of this Jack in the Box. They were snarky, but honest reflections of how I felt. I'm not sure why I decided to go again tonight. (It was the offer of a $2 fish sandwich.) My expectations were not high and if it had sucked, I would not have updated my review, because I would have considered it my fault for going again. But, I really like McDonald's fish sandwiches and they are objectively the worst fast food fish on the market. I'm very glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The fish sandwich was hot and fresh. The breading, though not thick at all, was so crispy. That and the lettuce gave a wonderful variety of textures that made it clearly superior to McDonald's. I wish the app gave an option to add pickles, for me that would have made it even better, but I have to judge what they make and even without pickles, this sandwich impressed me. Does one good sandwich cancel out my previous disappointments? Not entirely, so I will leave my previous reviews below, but to give credit where it is due, I did up my rating from 3 stars to 4. I might even go back to try something else off the menu.
"Jack in the Box is completely edible and reasonably priced. It is what school lunch tries to be. Not great, but most people probably won't mind eating it." This was my original review from 3 years ago. I completely forgot that I had been here and went again today.
T-mobile had a deal for a free Jumbo Jack with drink purchase. It let you use the $1 Dr. Pepper as the drink which made the overwhelmingly meh burger worth it, but if I had to pay full price I would have felt very disappointed. For a sandwich that is supposedly "Jumbo" it was surprisingly small. Size-wise I would put it on part with a Wendy's Jr. Deluxe hamburger, but with maybe a little more meat. The tomato was over-ripe and bland while the onions were dry and extra "oniony".
Today just reinforced the utterly forgettable impression that they left to begin with, except that 3 years ago apparently the prices seemed reasonable and that is no longer the case.
To give credit where it is due, I also ordered onion rings. They were cooked perfectly, a beautiful color, crispy and not oily in the least. If they had been seasoned or salted at all, I would even say that they tasted good, unfortunately as they were the onion rings came across as bland.
Yet again the food at Jack in the Box was not bad, just underwhelming and over priced for what you get. Who knows, maybe in a few more years, I will forget about this place and end up trying it again, but I don't think I will miss much in the mean time and neither will you. If you are hungry and ready for a quick meal, there are a few places near by, pick any of...
Read moreUpdate 3 days after my 2023 update. I get a reply from Jack in the box suggesting that my experience was not good and that I should contact them through their website. Ironically enough I did that on the same day that I posted the review update. When I submitted my request directly at the Jack in the box website I got a immediate reply stating that someone would contact me within two business days I have yet to hear from anyone so I'm being told to go back to the Jack in the box website. This downward spiral seems to have morphed in the shape of a loop. It would appear as if the corporate office is just about as incompetent as the employees themselves. Update August 2023.
A year later this place is still filled with employees that literally cannot complete a simple task. Basic English is very difficult and they are all clearly 100% American. I would be surprised if there was any food left in the restaurant when the employees went home I'm sure they all rob the place before they leave.
Employee are absolutely morally poor. The onsite employees of the location off ridge in Cincinnati are ridiculous, they are the definition of bad service which includes lies to customers about what foods are to be served, such as breakfast (ive been told more than twice that they do not serve breakfast after 11am.) Also, they have closed the restaurant up to an hour early without reason other than laziness. Lets just say i got some inside info from an ex employee about that n more. Jack n the Box has a great business model for a local restaurant that serves a wide and very diverse menu. However, employees like those a this location are all over Cincinnati and are in NO SHORTAGE here at this location. I am beginning to think that the most reliable person in this locations staff is NOT the manager or the store manager. They seem only to hire the most useless people who care not even enough to succeed at a fast food position.
If your not willing to excel at a job like Jack in the Box, then you will NEVER be more than an unsuccessful drive through clerk. If thats all you have to offer this world in an attempt to pay Your bills, then you should except your defeat and leave US, the rest of the world out of your morally disrupted...
