So, I was starving and saw this little spot in a tiny strip area near Lowe's and I drive over to get some noodles for carryout. Welp, it's a Cajun seafood restaurant haha. So, I ordered some chicken strips and fries, (so delicious), some white sauce clam chowder, a chicken salad with fresh chicken strips and BBQ wings. I'm not a gumbo fan and I have issues with anything too "fishy". I can't comment on the seafood unfortunately but I can tell you that the carry out orders as I sat at the bar waiting for my order was for catfish. That's my next order for sure! The folks in line said it was fantastic but I already ordered chicken.
The food was incredibly fresh and hot. The fries were super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My favorite. The wings were spectacular as well as the salads. I also had a house margarita while I waited and it was delicious! Possibly a little pricey for the size but I haven't been out drinking in a while, so maybe $8 was average? They do have a happy hour so I'll definitely check out bar more closely at that time. The chowder was creamy but a little more fishy tasting than I prefer. That said, I am not a fish fan, so keep that in mind. I'm sure that anyone else would have loved it! So creamy!
The owner is amazing! She mixes a delicious margarita and the atmosphere is fantastic, plus she's just a really neat young person. I felt like I had walked into a restaurant on the beach or on vacation. Very nice and cozy!
There's a separate bar area and there is also a party room for large groups. Another thing, they roll their own seafood as the owner was telling me as I took a few pics of the restaurant. I also got there at a half hour before closing time and was met with enthusiasm, kindness and really hot, fresh delicious food. I'll absolutely be back for the catfish and definitely more chicken strips and fries. Yum! Plus I want to see what else I might have to try.
I do want to add that I am not a fish fan and thought this was a Chinese restaurant from across the parking lot haha. In my defense, it was raining like crazy! That said, I wasn't...
Read moreIt was my first time eating food from here. My husband and I left the aquarium. Thought a seafood boil sounded good and we’d just grab it on the way home.
We ordered a boil with shrimp, crab, potato, corn, sausage, egg… a decent amount of items. Well it was a pickup order. We got home, got settled, started putting it in bowls, sat down to eat and realized there were no eggs. Not a huge deal at all, small mistakes happen. I wasn’t mad but on principle I don’t believe in paying for something I didn’t receive.
I called to let them know with the hopes of just having the $3.5 refunded. I wasn’t going to ask for a whole new boil over some eggs. I told the girl on the phone who then proceeds to essentially call me a liar. She said something like “well actually I remember this order. I checked it myself and I do remember seeing the eggs.” …. Uhm like what do I say to this. I just said well “idk what to tell you there isn’t a single egg.” It was a pickup order so not like I can prove it.
Honestly, I wasn’t even upset about the eggs but that response calling me a liar over $3.5 eggs out of a $50 food boil definitely pissed me off a bit and put me off. What a dumb thing it would be to lie about and out of all the food/add ons it was one of the cheapest items.
She said I could come pick the eggs up… we live 30 min away so def not worth it. I asked for just the $3.5 refunded on the eggs. Can’t because I ordered through a 3rd party (link on their website). Again… fine. So I just asked if they can put like a credit under our name to add eggs on free (technically I prepaid because I never got these ones) next time. Even though I’m a bit out off from the service experience after the call.
All in all, food tasted good and I guess I’ll get my eggs I paid for one day if I order again. Personally, wouldn’t recommend calling your patrons a liar especially when the context is $3.5 missing eggs…
If you’re picking up, check your food before leaving. While I do this at many restaurants. A boil came in two plastic bags, a paper bag, and another carrying plastic bag so my husband didn’t think to pull it...
Read moreWe visited around 4pm on a Sunday, and there was 1 other table in the whole restaurant. The dining room was clean and we'll decorated. It was clear someone invested alot of money in decorating and renovating the bar. I might question the luxury vinyl flooring on the walls, but they were going for a specific seafood shack kind of look. As soon as you walk in. There is a huge bar, right in front of you. We saw two employees and a 7 or 8 year old child be hind the bar. There were 2 barstools but there were signs taped to the bar that said "not for customers, bar seats are for staff only" which was a little odd and not what you want to see when you walk in. Also, the child should not be behind the bar either. There were paper cones over the tops of the liquor bottles, which means you have bugs getting in. Those cones should be taken off before service. Guests shouldn't see them.
Service was attentive, but we didn't receive small fork/picks for our crab legs, even though they had them in the serving station right behind our table. We didn't see them until the end of the meal, so we didn't know if they even had them. Also, they don't have dessert.
The food was pretty good. The mozzarella sticks were clearly frozen and not homemade. They were hit but the marinara was almost frozen. Heating up the marinara would help. I wasn't a fan of the steamed shrimp, as it had an almost plastic taste to it. Maybe from the bag?
Overall, I think they have a good idea, but the execution is off. It comes off like they sunk alot of money into the reno and are maybe cutting back on things to keep things going and it's the guest experience...
