Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Columbia Township

We arrived at the restaurant at 12:35 pm on Sunday December 2. We were waiting inline to be seated. We waited 10 minutes and they seated the couple in front of us, she said I will be right back to seat you. We scooted over to allow others to come in the door. She comes back and seats the other group that came in after us( they had more people than us). She then comes back and repeats I will get you seated in a minute 5 more minutes she says how many are there. I said well it hasn’t changed from the last time I answered that question 5 of us. She seats us in a booth for 4 people but at least we are seated. She said your server will be back shortly with kids menus and get your order. 15 minutes later I flag down a waitress that had already taken 3 orders from tables that had been seated after us, she said I will go tell your server...... 10 minutes later we walk out!! I asked for a manager before I left. The lady that was running the cash register turned around to a woman cooking and said she wants a manager. I kid you not she looks at me sighs heavily and rolls her eyes comes over and said nothing at all. I said you know my grandkids were looking forward to eating here but thanks to no service after 25 minutes we are leaving and going somewhere that will appreciate our business!! She says sorry and turns around and walks off. Are you freaking kidding me!!!! Lousy customer service and I will not go back!!! She was no more sorry than a man in the moon. We ordered 2 shakes and large fries. I asked a couple questions, received understandable information and placed my order. It was not a complicated order. In a couple of minutes another employee approached me/us asking about my uncomplicated order (I wanted my shake to be thin not thick) what did I want? Ok that was odd. If we have that much trouble remembering the order, write it down at the table!! That's the first step of the "castle crumbling". The order came out in a reasonable amount of time. My husband ordered a butterfinger shake and I ordered a chocolate shake and I wanted my shake thin. Bruce ended up with a reeses shake instead of what he ordered and my shake was thin enough. We had been eating for a couple minutes and a girl came out and said blah blah I brought you the wrong order. This is the correct one and left us each with an additional shake. Omgosh, another couple of minutes passed and she came back to the table again and took the shakes back away from us. No reason, no nothing!! I was pretty mad at this and I gave her my, "are you even serious?" look all the way back to the kitchen. I don't know if she was directed to do these things or if she acted alone. She needs more training to go through a situation like this. If it was the person in charge directing her, that person needs a lot of help with customer service 101!! Food was delicious, the staff was rarely seen..had to go to the counter to ask for a go box.Updated 5/26/22 I took a group here for lunch today, Tyrone seated us ,Tyrone didn't seem terrible happy to have a job or be dealing with people, He was mumbling under his breath and never even acknowledged us properly, tossed the menus on the table and walked off, came back a short while later, was unfamiliar with the new tiny menu, my coworker asked what sugar free drinks they had and he sharply stated"well what do you want?" And never did tell her what they had. I asked for unsweetened tea, he brought me sweet tea that I can't have, when he finally returned I asked for the unsweetened tea, he became annoyed, took our order(still hasn't even smiled) and went back to his station, 10 minutes later I still had not received my drink, my Co worker went to the front counter and asked a nice guy named Marcjs if I could have the unsweetened tea and if he could be our waiter, because we did not want Tyrone back at our table..Marcus came and brought my tea, and then checked the order that Tyrone had taken it was wrong , there were 4 of us and he had food for 5 people, he had added an extra burger and two extra fries, Marcus corrected the order, we received our food in a timely manner, Marcus was wonderful and very friendly and made what was left of our visit much more enjoyable!!
