Brunch at Hampton Street Vineyard was an experience we won’t soon forget. From the moment we arrived—just 15 minutes after making our reservation—we were met with warmth, efficiency, and a level of hospitality that immediately set the restaurant apart. The maître d' greeted us with a genuine smile, already aware of our airborne seafood allergy, and had thoughtfully arranged for us to be seated outside to ensure our comfort. Her attention to detail didn’t stop there—she also took the time to introduce us to our server and provide a thoughtful preview of what we could expect from our meal. Then came Anne, our server, who transformed what could have been a simple brunch into something extraordinary. She was the perfect combination of personable and professional, balancing attentiveness with a charismatic energy that made us feel like more than just guests—like we were truly being cared for. She guided us through the menu with insightful recommendations, and every suggestion she made was spot-on. The eggs were a revelation, with layers of flavor that unfolded with each bite, and when the maître d' returned to check in, we seized the opportunity to learn more about the spice blends and techniques that made our steaks so unforgettable. It was clear that every element of the meal had been carefully curated, and the result was nothing short of remarkable. Just when we thought the experience couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived—and we were proven gloriously wrong. Every dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, but the brown butter tart with Chantilly cream was an undeniable standout. Rich, decadent, and perfectly balanced, it was the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. Paired with their refreshing cranberry mimosas, it was the perfect indulgence, and we happily savored every moment. Beyond the exceptional food, what truly set Hampton Street Vineyard apart was the atmosphere—an inviting blend of elegance and Southern charm that made it impossible to rush through the meal. The hospitality extended by Kat, Gage, and Anne made us feel as if we were longtime regulars rather than first-time visitors, and by the time we finally tore ourselves away from the table, one thing was certain: we would be back. With food this extraordinary, service this impeccable, and an ambiance that makes you want to linger just a little longer, there’s no question—we’re already counting down the days until our next visit.

Was the food some of the best food I've had in Columbia? Yes! Then why the 4 stars on food? I'll tell ya. However, you guys should try the scallops if you haven't tasted fine dining scallops! First let's get service out of the way. 5 stars hands down. If you are looking for a romantic night where the hosts will pay very close attention to which when you are taking your last bite so that the next dish would come out in 2 minutes? This is the spot. If you are looking for a waiter that notices that you have some extra food on your charcuterie board, so that he brings you some of the most warm and pillow-like bread to finish up your cheese? This is the spot. No complaints here, that part could not be much better. Now, for the consumables. Let's go course by course. The cocktail included was mixed quite delicious off of an amazing suggestion by the waiter, as others would describe in their reviews. The special for this October night was a pumpkin gnocchi, where we were very pleasantly surprised was shaped just as pumpkins in the creamiest sauce with the most flavorful rice grains of bacon! How adorable. We also enjoyed the cheese plate, where the pickled vegetables were mind blowing, however, this was where we had some issues with the choice of cheese on this pricey platter. Frankly, it was boring. I'd imagine for a high-class restaurant that this was, the cheese would be much more well thought out to have very sharp and tasty cheese. The cheese felt lackluster, taken out of my little baby sister's cheese fridge. The scallops were absolutely divine. Yes, I understood that it was $11 per scallop, however, these were the most skillfully seared scallop I have ever tasted. It was uniformly cooked throughout. I finally understood what Gordon Ramsey means when he says a scallop is rubbery! It turns out every other scallop I've ever had was rubbery, this was proper! The ratatouille on the other hand, was less than desirable, but am I expecting too much perhaps? The ratatouille tasted like vegetables in tomato sauce. This isn't necessarily a complaint, just not necessarily the level of quality I expected out of a dish coming out of that kitchen. I should've listened to the folks in Ratatouille, it just felt like a peasant dish.
