I was really looking forward to trying Hendrix after seeing great reviews on Facebook. I travel here once a month for work and was excited to have a new spot to add to my routine.
Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I sat at the bar and was completely ignored for several minutes. The bartender was making drinks for a couple, which I understood, but she didn’t even acknowledge me. After finishing, she walked away. I was about to leave when she finally dropped off a menu without saying a word — no greeting, no water, nothing.
When she came back, she asked what I wanted to drink. I asked if she could make a flavored tea, and she said no, so I ordered water. I decided on the stuffed quail with dirty rice and greens.
A gentleman sat to my right, and it was clear she knew him. She brought him water and started chatting. Soon two of his friends joined, and her full attention was on their group. She eventually brought my food — which was actually really good — but that was the last I heard from her until I asked for my check. My water glass stayed empty while she refilled theirs; I finally had to ask another waitress for a refill.
The food was delicious, but the service made me feel unwelcome. Even the hostess didn’t say goodbye when I left. I was so excited to try this place, but after how I was treated, I don’t think I’ll be back.
$52 wasted — because customer service means more to me than good food. I even left a note on the receipt that said, “If you were more attentive, I would’ve left a...
Read moreMy Lady and I got dressed and went out a few weekends ago. We stopped at Hendrix to check out the rooftop. But it was too packed for what we wanted that night. But trust and believe we'll be back up there soon. We decided to eat downstairs in the main dining area. It was quiet and peaceful..just what we wanted before the turn up later on😝.
We had one of the best servers we've ever had and she helped us out tremendously. We went "..back, back, forth and forth" with Aaliyah (pun intended). She knew her stuff..from drinks to appetizers to entrees. I can't remember the drinks at this point. But all her selections were spot on. We had so much fun chatting it up with her that I didn't even remember to write the names down of what we tried🤷🏾♂️.
For our appetizers, we tried the PEI Mussels (Prince Edward Island) and the Mushroom Toast. Both were good. But the Mushroom Toast won us over. I was a little disappointed about the amount of mussels we got (I think about 8). We've been to some other upscale restaurants and are usually served a bowl of mussels😔
On to the entrees. Aaliyah got us right because she helped us make the best meal decisions!! My last had braised pork which may have been the Chicken fried Quail and I had the Market Catch. It may have been flounder, but I'm not sure. Somebody check out the picks and help me list these correctly. All I know is, EVERYTHING was great. Aaliyah even gave us recommendations for the next time we come in for dinner. We'll be looking for her when...
Read moreThe ambience is really cool. The food is farm to table and we started with brussel sprouts and Ocopas Papas. The Brussels were quite tasty and unlike other brussel sprouts, these were leaves only, roasted in sesame seed oil and sea salt. The Ocopas Papas were pushed at us as an authentic Peruvian dish. The sauce is but it was not worth what we paid for it since they just sprinkled it over roasted potatoes. The waiter told us that the executive chef is Peruvian and seemed to be trying to say that paella is Peruvian. Well its not but we were curious. We ordered the Paella, East Coat Shrimp (shrimp and grits), and bone in pork chop. The Paella was extremely salty and chunky rather than creamy. It was seasoned with a strange seasoning. Rather than spanish ham, it contained chorizo, as well as shrimp, mussels, and clams. The grits were an interesting purple color with tons of cajun seasoning. The pork chop was cooked well and seasoned well. The sauce under the pork chop was intensely salty. The butternut squash cubes were salty and greasy. We informed the waiter and the chef sent us desserts that were on him. We appreciated the gesture but the desserts were not our speed. Hendrix does have a decent wine, beer, and cocktail list. I gave it a low rating because of the food. It was very...
