Surfin Aloha : Hawaiian Style Food — Restaurant in Columbia

Went with a group of 4. Let me first say we were really hoping that this place reminded us of Hawaii, but this is a huge miss. This may be their version of Hawaiian food and that is fine but the food in itself was not good on any level. During the time we went the ice machine was being sanitized and all the drinks were flat. We had to get can drinks instead.

The picture shows the two meat plate combo. Ordered Crispy Garlic Chicken, Grilled Lemon Salmon, fried rice and vegetables.

Salmon: I have never got a two meats and received such a small portion for salmon. The salmon was not fully cooked and had no flavor.

Chicken: No garlic flavoring at all. Contained sauce but not sure what it was supposed to be. Inquired if the chicken was white meat and was told, they didn’t know.

Rice: Tasted like regular rice that had the flavor residue from the chicken. No flavoring at all.

Others review based on other food ordered in party: the Spicy Chicken was under cooked. Beef Bulgogi was the only thing that was identified as tasting ok. 4 out of 4 would not return. If you decide to try hopefully you have...

I was looking for something different for lunch. Most people recommend the same spots and didn’t feel like eating the same ole options. Surfin Sumo popped up for me and reviews were solid so I gave it a try! It did NOT DISAPPOINT! Gentleman at the front greeted me as soon as I came in. I was the only one so that made me feel even more special! First time ordering so he was very helpful letting me know the options and the sides best to pair it with. Made it to order so food was hot hot ! He brought the food out to me while I was sitting of course packaged to go)- very thoughtful and kind.

I ordered the Garlic Shrimp mini plate with grilled vegetables and fried rice!! Delicious and you get yum yum sauce with it too! Great portion at a great price !!! I will be making this a go to spot for me...

Arrived during lunch hours. The customer service was great, but the quality of the food didn’t live up to expectations for a hibachi restaurant. The portions were more like kids' meals, yet we were charged full adult prices. Based on the reviews, I expected the food to be top notch, but unfortunately, it missed the mark.
