I love the building itself. Exposed brick, cute murals and beautiful bright tabletops. There is also parking beside and behind the building, which is a definite plus in Five Points. We waited a few minutes for the hostess. She wasn't super friendly but we were sat. Our very friendly server came over quickly and took our drink orders. The sweet tea was really good. Just the right amount of sweetness for me. Unfortunately, our glasses ran dry twice. In fact, they were empty when the check was brought. I was still eating but a refill was not offered. That is one of my pet peeves when dining out. The food wasn't bad. My husband said he enjoyed his.He had biscuit eggs and gravy with loaded grits. Sorry, no picture. I got the Georgia peaches and cream waffle breakfast. It was my first visit so I wanted to try things and this plate allowed that. The waffle itself had a great flavor and texture. Unfortunately, it had three peach slices max and they forgot the whipped cream entirely. The biscuit was fluffy and not as dense as I feared it would be for its size. I really enjoyed eating it with the apple butter. The grits were not hot so they were dense but had a great flavor. The sausage was not hot either and was a bit hard as a result. Perhaps, it was because I ate the waffle first. I'm not sure what the temperature of these items were when they were delivered. The eggs were cooked as ordered. All in all, not a terrible experience but not the best either. I was excited to try The Flying Biscuit. I may go back, but I'm not in a huge hurry to. I wouldn't tell someone not to try it because it definitely has good bones. I think there were just a few little service problems that got in the way this visit.

Friendly staff, nasty food and sanitation. Would not recommend. Long wait, was estimated 30 minutes which turned into 42 minutes. Understanding this likely is out of their control. Once seated I was very quickly greeted by a server and had my order taken. The server was very polite but had seemed flustered as if there was more going on than she was comfortable with. Out of my silverware the fork still had visible food residue from a previous guest. The building has a very warm and welcoming appearance and vibe. It was very loud and crowded when I was seated around 1030. Always a good sign when establishments are popular. Coffee was very hot and had a very nice flavor. The chicken and waffles were very well presented and came in a very large portion. The butter packets which have been who knows where came on top of my food with some sort of food debris not from my order stuck to the container. Disgusting. The food tasted decent but was overly hyped based off all the reviews and recommendations I was given. The chicken was way overly darkened as if the back of house had neglected to switch the frier oil when it was needed. Also, was pretty dry. They menu is very large and has a wide variety. This place has much potential but based off my experience I wouldn’t recommend. There’s much better establishments in the area.

My recent breakfast experience at The Flying Biscuit Cafe, 936 Harden St, Columbia, SC 29205, left me with mixed feelings. The restaurant's location is quite convenient, and I was immediately drawn to the charming artwork adorning its interior. The staff welcomed us warmly, setting a positive tone for our visit. When ordering, we tried the Egg-Stravaganza and the Biscuit Eggs and Gravy with a pancake on the side. However, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. It was okay; nothing particularly stood out as exceptional. Given the word "Biscuit" in the restaurant name, I had higher hopes for their biscuit quality, but sadly, they fell short of the homemade taste I was anticipating. What surprised me even more was the predominance of chicken-based dishes, such as the "Signature chicken sage sausage patty" and "Chicken Sausage Gravy." For someone like me who grew up on traditional sausage patties and gravy, the chicken-centric flavors will take some getting used to. The Flying Biscuit Cafe offers a Vegan Menu, a detail I didn't explore thoroughly before ordering. While I'm open to trying new things, I can't say that the chicken sausage was my personal preference. Despite this, I'm willing to give the restaurant another chance in the future. However, on my next visit, I'll avoid the chicken sausage.

Me and a guy friend decided to grab brunch here Wednesday 11/1/23 at around 12pm. This was my first time visiting Flying Biscuit, and I was so excited to try the food because he always talks about how good it is. We came in and sat at the bar, shortly we were greeted by the bartender (older white lady with freckles) who didn’t give us a name. We ordered our beverages, he got a sweet tea but quickly changed his mind after tasting it. While sitting, we noticed that she actually makes the tea and just adds an imprecise amount of simple syrup. After reviewing the menu for about 10-15 minutes, we were ready to order but she didn’t acknowledge us while it was only three people sitting at the bar. I wasn’t bothered by waiting but her approach when it was finally our turn to order is what I didn’t appreciate.

I ordered a mimosa flight but realized he left his ID so I said “Never mind the mimosa flight”, as I stated I didn’t want to drink it alone. I then proceed to try and order my food, this lady cuts me off to go on a mini rant about the ID situation after I already told her to forget it. She had a snarky attitude the entire time taking our order but we remained respectful. She goes to the kitchen and is clapping her fist together very visibly upset after she just spoke with us. Now I’m uncomfortable because the entire staff is watching us from the kitchen while handling our food. At this point, we’re not understanding what her issue is. Someone else brings out our food and everything looked…..OK, wish I could’ve at least tried it. She quickly stops by to ask if we need anything, almost like she didn’t care to service us anymore. We asked if she was okay because we saw how frustrated she was after taking our order, she says “oh sweetie that had nothing to do with you” swings her ponytail, and walks off. Not even five seconds later, she then turns back around and yells at us to move to a table if we didn’t like her attitude. We just got up and left before it escalated, we didn’t even touch our food. I wish these small establishments would stop hiring workers who are going through hard times and taking out their emotions on customers. Very dissatisfied with my experience, and I will not...

Me and my girlfriend came here one morning for brunch. We waited a couple of minutes at the host stand which was fine, my girlfriend used to be a host so we’re aware that hosts have other duties and it can get overwhelming. The host was very nice upon greeting us and led us to our table. We were then greeted by our server, I forget her name but she had curly hair. I ordered a Chai latte which she rolled her eyes to and I asked my girlfriend if she saw it and I was indeed not hallucinating. The tea came out relatively fast and then she took our order. This is when it got pretty bad. We waited 45 minutes for our food and I from my seat, I could see into the kitchen a waffle with the toppings that looked eerily similar to mine about 20 minutes in. I’m looking around for our server and she’s at the bar talking to the bartender and on her phone. She doesn’t move from the bar for the remainder of our visit. Our food is brought out (by the bartender!) and it was indeed that same waffle that I stared at for near thirty minutes. I ate my barely warm waffle pretty fast and waited about 20 minutes for someone to check on us so we could get our pay. We were very prepared to just leave at this point. A waiter finally stops by to check on everything and we asked for our check. He seemed very overwhelmed considering the other server just abandoned her section so I’m not mad at him that it took a while for the check to come back to me. I asked him why our server just left us and he said “Things have been weird today” which is not helpful. We were tempted not to tip but tipped 15% which is our bare minimum just because of the last server that got us our check. It was really upsetting because me and my girlfriend both have extensive experience in the service industry and we really try to give the benefit of the doubt but I was, for once, livid. We’re very good tippers as well, usually tipping 25-30% and I don’t know if it’s because we’re young but anytime we go somewhere that’s, ironically, not a bar, we are treated like trash by our servers. This place is...

The customer service here is very concerning and unprofessional! While attempting to place my order over the phone, the woman that I spoke to was extremely unprofessional. After allowing me to give half my order, she stopped me mid sentence and said she needed to write it down. While she thought she was on mute, I observed her saying "I'm going to kill this person" then when when she returned to the phone I informed her I heard the comment and she hung up on me. When I called back to file a complaint, the person that came to the phone started she was the manager. Based on how she handled the situation I don't believe she was. She did not apologize and when I asked for her name and the name of the person that made the statement she advised she couldn't give that info "for security purposes". I asked if they give names and have name tags in the store and she started "No". She continued to refuse giving me that info! I asked for the corporate office info to file a formal complaint, she also refused this and ended the call. I immediately called the corporate office and left a voicemail with the details of what occurred and provided my contact information. They still have not reached back out to me in any way and it has been weeks since this occurred.

I previously had a bad experience when the woman at the front walked off from me when I requested a seat outdoors. She refused to return and assist me, instead she sent another employee who fulfilled my request. I never returned to dine-in after that experience; however thought I would try a pickup, then I had the other experience when confirmed I should never return.

I DO NOT recommend this organization to anyone based on this overall experience! They should reevaluate some of the staff members of they plan to...
