Union Jack's Columbia — Restaurant in Columbia

I’ve been going to Union Jack’s for many years and never had a manager or a employee bluntly lie to me. We sat down and tried to order beers they did not have anything on tap that we asked for. But that is fine we ordered just regular bottle beers we ordered appetizers and a couple minutes after ordering our appetizers we ordered our entrées. For some reason our entrées came out first and then when we were done eating our entrées our appetizers came out our appetizers were both the same they were the muscles they had no sauce and the sauce just look like tomato basil soup no flavor I had to ask my waitress for extra sauce after eating a couple of them we know something is wrong we’ve had this appetizer for many Times And never had a problem I told our server and instead our server said that she would make new ones I thought for somebody that is in the management position would come out and speak to us nobody came out nobody said one word our server was a sweetheart and did her job perfectly our server said that the manager would come by and personally bring us our food after waiting another 30 minutes for our muscles to come out with no manager just the server bringing our food we were not hungry anymore we lost appetite so we asked for boxes and asked to speak to the manager the server told me that the manager was on the phone granite it was 1030 at night and nobody was in the restaurant I guess she was placing in a food order for food tomorrow for the restaurant probably not I guess she was trying to hire somebody probably not at 10 30 She finally came over with the attitude I told her what was going on with our order I told her we got our food after our entrées came in she told me that I was lying to her and told me that she wasn’t going to take anything off of our bill and she was really nasty rude and disrespectful I asked if I could have a general managers name and number and she said she was the person if that’s how their management is stay away from this place never go there ever again because I won’t if it’s something that the kitchen has done they should take full responsibility not saying that they made our food twice and it’s nothing that they can do after they made our food twice. After arguing back-and-forth with her my sister finally got her to agree to take a percentage off of our muscles she Brong us our bill did not apologize for anything and made us feel like it was our fault. This place is so terrible, it's just sad. It's like they just don't want business.

We came in on a Thursday night with 7 people in our party for dinner, including adults ordering alcohol. There were people at maybe 3 other tables, and some people at the bar.

After the initial drink order the waitress was barely interested in our table - other than to tell me the they were out of the first 2 beers I tried to order from their beer list - a Union Jack Lager, the name of the place, and then a Sam Adams, which is a pretty popular beer. So I settled for what they had, served in a plastic cup. The other people ordering beer, also got it in a plastic cup. Really? This is supposed to be an English pub. You can't serve beer in a glass? (I guess they don't want to hire a dishwasher?).

After that, we waited forever for the food. The waitress never came over in that time - she was too busy socializing at the bar. When the food did come, one person in our party was informed that her pizza wasn't coming, because the cook burned it - but we would be comped.

This idiot messed up the simplest of orders - he burned a frozen pizza!

Comped!? What on earth are you talking about? Of course we're not paying for your screw-up!

All in all, it was bad food, beer they advertised but didn't have, and really bad service. Why have 5 waitresses running around for 3 tables? Oh, but yhey did have D.J. Kaliff and his beer pong. And it was a good opportunity for the "hostess" to do nothing and flirt with the guy outside,

This experience at Union Jack's is a prime example why people are avoiding going out anymore. No sympathy if they go under.

I had the absolute dis-pleasure of dining at Union Jacks Columbia recently, and let me tell you, it was a miserable experience from start to finish. From the uninviting atmosphere to the bad food and piss-poor service, Union Jacks Columbia truly exceeded my expectations for how bad a restaurant could be.

First and foremost, the staff at Union Jacks Columbia are incredibly lazy. From the moment I walked through the door, the hostess was busy flirting with the bartender outside. The waitstaff were unattentive, unknowledgeable, and never returned to your table..

On Friday March 28th, a dear friend of mine had a birthday party at Union Jack in Columbia Maryland, a pub and eatery thats popular and appears nice.

Now, let me give you a little of the back story dating back to her birthday last year (2024).

Long Story Short.....Union Jack....

I went to the bar to get a drink. I saw something scurrying across the floor. Behold ! A mice was also going to the bar to take part in a drink ! I screamed and told the manager. She adjusted the bill. Soooo okkkkkk....Moving along..

The birthday girl asked me would it be a good idea to have her birthday party there again this year,and would I attend.

Carefully thinking, I responded "of course !". Perhaps the mice was a mishap and the issue surely has been resolved by now. Things happen beyond one's control and you never really know what the unseen is when visiting an eatery.

This year 3/28/2025... A good time was had by all ! I then overheard several guest complaining that the bathroom smelled like sewage and river water. OK, I won't be using their restroom. Upon the end of the celebration the birthday girl runs to me excited anxiety and beyond belief ! " Carmen another mice ran across the floor", and was seen by another guest and my family members".

I snapped into action, and asked for the manager. Of course the manager just went home and another won't be in until later. WRONG ANSWER!!! I explained that somebody in this mice ridden restaurant had better come talk to me.

Our server Cory, who was the best, sought out someone that could make decisions. I explained that the bathroom smells like a sewage and the mice is running around the place as if he/she was an invited quest. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!

The establishment took off the price of two lousy pizzas for the inconvenience. I am pretty sure that the mice have been seen by many !

DO NOT EAT AT UNION JACK ! I will be contacting the BBB, and Board Of Health tomorrow. This place needs...
