Another local disappointment (alongside Mercury Diner and Cobra). I’d put this in the category of: Places that would probably be a better fit on campus for those stumbling back home to their dorms.
We picked up an assortment of their cakes — as we often do when trying somewhere new. Maybe it was a bad night, but everything tasted like it was several days old. Carrot cake: 1/5 – Dry, and the cream cheese icing was somehow flavorless. You’ll definitely want something to drink to pair. Imagine eating sand.
Limoncello cake: 3/5 – Kroger bakery quality on a good day. Like they just set it out on the end cap.
Oreo Cheesecake: 1/5 – Again, Kroger bakery quality. Looked like it had sat out at room temp for a while on closer inspection.
Tiramisu: 3/5 – Pretty mid. At this point, mid was a welcomed relief after the previous.
Mixed Berry Muffin: 1/5 – Better to just repurpose this as a doorstop.
Customer Experience: You’ll be waiting a while. Also, the employee attempted to serve the gentleman behind me (nbd). When the kind sir redirected them to me, I got the Gen Z stare and an audible sigh like it was somehow my fault. Lol. I just patiently waited 15 minutes for you to make two coffees just to catch attitude.
We usually give places a 2nd/3rd chance, so maybe it’ll be better next time.
Better options in proximity: Fox in the Snow, Bake Me Happy, Chocolate...
Read moreGreat little place for a bit of ice cream and a place to sit and relax. They have other things there, but it's mainly ice cream and sorbet. One really nice thing about this place, was that they had a couple sorbet options which were vegan/dairy free which is a good option for some of us who can't have dairy. Price were decent, definitely more affordable than some of the surrounding shops with more options. Probably because it is not right in the center of the German villages and is less authentic, less authentic in the means that it is more of a modern building on the outskirts of the villages. Still...
