Valter’s at the Maennerchor in German Village in downtown Columbus, Ohio Now let’s just start, if you’ve never been to Valter’s, you have to go! This is a hidden gem in Columbus! The food is absolutely delicious and so full of flavor! The owners are there daily and you can tell by the quality & taste of the food! Also, the brunch there is out of this world, their skillet breakfast is probably one of my favorite things i’ve ever eaten at a restaurant! 4 polish brothers appetizer - so full of flavor & delicious! If you’ve never had a perogi, this is the place to try it!👏🏽 Prime Rib French Dip sandwhich is so good, my husbands fav! Juicy & so full of flavor! Now onto the famous Rueben - which is rumored to be better than Katzinger’s (in German Village) Reuben. So naturally, I had to order this to weigh in my opinion! To start off, Valter’s & Katz reuben’s are both delicious, it just depends on what your looking for! What i love about Valter’s Reuben is that the sauerkraut is definitely better, gives a richer & more sour profile than Katz! But Katz reuben has an added sauce in theirs which make the sandwich overall more juicy, but lacks in the sauerkraut department! So personally, i’d give both places the same rating, both amazing & 10/10! @Valter #columbusohio #localspots #wheretoeat #reuben #germanvillage

Craving German cuisine, we decided to visit the beer and food district in Columbus, Ohio, where Valters at the Maennerchor stands out as a must-try spot. Arriving at 5 PM, we quickly realized how popular the restaurant was—all the tables were fully booked. Fortunately, we managed to find seats at the bar, which turned out to be a great experience in itself.

For our meal, we ordered the signature dish—crispy roasted pork knuckle served with sauerkraut and potatoes. The portion was generous, and the flavors were outstanding. The pork was perfectly cooked, with crispy skin and tender, juicy meat inside. The tangy sauerkraut complemented the richness of the pork, while the potatoes added a comforting balance to the dish.

The beer selection at Valters at the Maennerchor was another highlight. No matter the type of beer, each option we tried was fresh, well-crafted, and paired excellently with our meal. The variety ranged from light and refreshing lagers to rich, full-bodied dark beers, making it an excellent place for beer enthusiasts.

Beyond the food and drinks, the atmosphere of Valters was warm and welcoming, with a touch of old-world charm. The restaurant's German heritage is evident in its decor, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience.

If you’re in Columbus and looking for authentic German cuisine and high-quality beer, Valters at the Maennerchor is definitely worth a visit. Just be sure to make a reservation if you...

Atmosphere- 5 stars- located in the German Village section of Columbus in a historic brick house over one hundred years old this amazing restaurant takes you back in time. Decent amount of indoor seating with some on the outside. There is a full bar as well for seating. They serve many traditional German dishes and on weekends they serve their popular brunch from 9-3.

Service- 5 stars- Stephen was our server and he went above and beyond without being asked. I ordered sweet tea however they only have unsweetened tea so I decided to just have water which is brought out to you in a carafe after being seated. A few minutes later Stephen shows up with a large sweet tea from McDonald’s which is next door. This is thinking outside of the box and going that extra mile for your customers. He was very friendly and helpful with the menu choices. Wish more restaurants had Stephen’s working for them!!

Food- 5 stars- we were here for their famous weekend brunch so I order the Cornbeef Hash skillet. It came out served in a cast iron skillet super hot. Cornbeef is made onsite. Comes with homes fries, cabbage, onions and eggs cooked to your liking. We also got the French toast which is made with baguettes. Bread was so soft and covered in blueberries, strawberries and bananas. Everything was soooo good!!! You have to try Valter’s whenever visiting the German Village. Can’t wait to come back and try their...
