This Dairy Queen franchise consistently misses the mark, but on purpose, without even trying to hit the mark. I used to work at another Dairy Queen franchise here in Columbus for about 7 years, with breaks in between during leaving for college. I was a shift manager, I had keys to the store, I managed the money, I trained the employees and I did it for a long time. I’ve spoken with the owner of this fifth avenue franchise location and explained to him my experience as a DQ employee and how multiple times my order has been messed up and this last time I asked the employee if he could please correct the mistake. I understand food service sucks, believe me, but it’s also the job to make orders correctly and not get defensive and rude towards kind customers whose order has been messed up.
In terms of both food and ice cream, there’s always a mistake and I normally never say anything because I don’t want to be that person. The owner was nice over the phone, said he was shocked at the behavior I described from his employees, said he was surprised they didn’t just fix the order since he agreed it was a very easy mistake to fix, and promised a refund as a gift card would be mailed. I assumed he forgot to mail the refund, so I went back today after a few months of avoiding the store, and experience a similar mistake done (one that should be followed easily if the blizzard maker follows recipe directions for a medium cookie dough blizzard add oreo) and received a similar employee response as before when I asked if it was said blizzard. So I said thank you, drove off, and wished I would have just driven the 15 minutes to get some Rita’s.
I leave this review because it honestly just seems like the ownership/management is encouraging employees to slack off, not follow the recipes so they can save on candy/food costs (ripping off customers), and discourages employees from handing out receipts so customers cannot call and discuss a mistake, and in general negate fixing a messed up order. Seems to me like the employees are just modeling the behavior of the shop. If you love DQ, I’m sure you’ll find something on the menu they can’t mess up (I also drove away thinking I should have just gotten twist with sprinkles) and yes, I can chose to not come here fellow internet users. But now you also can make the choice too, with this...

My significant other and I were thinking of having chili dogs earlier today and thought I could quickly eat at DQ before an event I had to be at 7 PM.
So we went to go order some chili dog meals from Dairy Queen. However, when we ordered at the old looking speaker, I was told that they no longer have meals for chili cheese dogs. No problem.
Originally I was thinking I was making the simplest order ever. 2 Chili Cheese dogs, 2 Regular fries, 2 Diet Cokes, and 2 mini Reese's Blizzard. I made this order and was told I'd be given the price at the window. I made a poor decision to look at the board again as I passed, because I saw Exhibit A. While they just gave a flat "No." when I asked if they had meals for chili cheese dogs, I saw the 7 dollar meal deal as we passed.
I thought to just bring up about the 7 dollar meal deal because I figured maybe not too many people ordered the chili cheese dog combo and maybe they just said no because they were just annoyed with the question.
So after I got to the window, I asked again because I had mentioned that the speaker hidden the Chili Cheese dog option under their 7 dollar combo, and they just said they no longer have this.
Cursed with the knowledge now that this was 7 dollars before for basically each meal we ordered, I was hit with Exhibit B. 24 dollars for most of what we ordered (except for a second fry, which was neither rung up or given), when all but two of those items would have been around 14 dollars before.
At this point, I was just like whatever and paid the 24 dollars, but upon seeing that despite saying 2 of each thing as I ordered it, I just resigned myself to a crappy quick dinner where I had a sad looking chili dog and half melted blizzard before going to where I had to go.
Not the first time I've had blunt service that clearly didn't care, but this will probably be my last because this just reeks of leadership not caring about making sure signs are up to date, and probably also burning the hell out of their employees because they just seemed like they didn't care.
Edit: I realized today that it's an $8.19 meal... Nevertheless, it still conflicts with the answer of "no chili dog combo". This goes to show how difficult it was to see if they even had a combo, I couldn't see this part of the sign until I pulled...
Read moreWent there to pick up an order for my customer and the instruction says to pick up at the counter. Parked my car went all the way around and waited five minutes just hoping someone would come to say hi. The Hispanic lady sees me clearly and ignored me. After I realized it's intentional I knocked on the window and she ignored again suddenly a guy who turned out to be a manager showed up and said we are close go to the drive thru and I told him that I am just following the instructions on the app then he said it's the new year eve bro get to the spirit jack ass. I am still in shock by what I heard. Really, it's the new year eve and you get to not to follow the rules and do your job the way you’re supposed to. Using the New Year Eve to harass people and call them name. It was already raining too heavily and you could have just handed me the order at the window but instead decided to be mean and give me hard time even though I was just doing my job and in a right way ,but you're the one who thinks is entitled because it's the "New Year Eve" and don't want to do your job as you're supposed to. After I drove up to the window she handed me the order and still I could hear the guy in the back ground swearing at me with the other female employee at the ice cream machine rolling her eye as if it's my fault and I am the one in the wrong. A delivery which was supposed to take 17 minutes whole trip ended up 32 minutes exactly. No man you don't ride on people time like that, I don't care about what holiday or events going on you are to do your job and do it right. Don't throw attitude or get rude about it. You're the one at fault not me. Feeling entitled and being rude and disrespectful to someone. They should get a trophy and awarded for their amazing customer service ,...
