I am easy to please, but if I were the owner or manager I would want to know about our experience yesterday. My wife and daughter have been there before and loved it, and I see all the positive posts, so I hope this was just a one time thing…
We were there about 1:30 yesterday. We were seated quickly upstairs and it was downhill from there. My wife ordered a Diet Coke, she was told “we are out of Diet Coke.” I asked for a tonic water, our waitress said “we don’t have tonic water.” I told her to check with the bartender, she came back with a tonic water. When we started ordering, she interrupted my wife and said “you can only order off the brunch menu.”
So we asked for a minute to look at the brunch menu, and she disappeared for 10 minutes. When she did come back, my wife and daughter ordered the Caesar Salad with chicken, I ordered the omelette. When our order finally arrived, we asked the person that brought it for silverware since we had none. I am not exaggerating, it was around 10 minutes before our waitress brought us silverware.
As far as the food goes, the salad had very little dressing, the amount of lettuce was extremely small, and there was a dried up piece of chicken on it. I know inflation is running rampant, but for 14 dollars, I think they could have done just a little better. My omelette was disgusting. It was 90% onion, a shot glass of tiny ham bites, and a little asparagus. I THINK there was some cheese in there but I’m not sure. But I do know there was oil. The mountain of onions were drowning in it. Plus it was stone cold.
Our waitress never came back, we had to ask a waiter to see if we could get our check, and I was waiting with my credit card for the check because I had no idea how long it would take to pay.
I know the climate we are in regarding costs and employment, and I’m sure the restaurant will be just fine despite this post, but I felt obligated to...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were invited out for trivia night by a group of people. It was our first time. Soon after approaching the bar, we decided that it would be our last.
The bartender couldn't smile, greet us, or take our order until she finished stuffing her face with food in front of us. When she finally finished chewing, we asked for something similar to a Long Island. She offered a Long Beach. By her description, it was "made with the same stuff, but with cranberry". Before making our drinks, she proceeded to give us bad attitude for not knowing our table number off hand, incorrectly referring to the Long Beach as a Long Island, and so on. In general, she was an unpleasant person to deal with. A lot of eye rolling and lack of acknowledgement, then we finally received our over-priced glasses of this watered down cranberry juice concoction.
Later that night, another bartender managed to make us the traditional Long Island that we'd originally asked for. (Mixing "the same stuff" with Pepsi instead of cranberry isn't that difficult, I guess...)
Before leaving, bartender #2 had the audacity to call my girlfriend and I to the bar and ask why we hadn't left a tip. It wasn't a concerned "Was there something wrong with your service?" (I don't even think this guy was the manager...) No, it was, "Your tab was such-and-such dollar amount. Why didn't you leave a tip?" When we explained that bartender #1 was horrible (as she glared at us from across the bar), he didn't even apologize for the poor service. I work in a commission-based industry. The way these bartenders were hassling us was completely inappropriate. If I treated a client that way, I wouldn't have a job.
We will never be returning to this place. I can get a Long Island at Union right down the street from me. It'll be mixed well, reasonably priced, and served without...
Read moreI am a delivery driver who picked up an order from this establishment. So I'm writing this from that perspective. When I arrived, I was not greeted, I was not acknowledged, I was treated as though I was invisible for the first 7 minutes that I was there. There were a total of seven workers in the area and neither of them attended to me. This establishment has a reputation for taking a long time to prepare orders, and I knew this going in, so I prepared myself for the wait. The wait is not what bothered me, It was the absolute disregard for not acknowledging me at all. For some reason that just got under my skin. As I was standing there, for at least 10 minutes at that time, three people came in behind me and they were acknowledged and attended to immediately. Seriously! That angered me. So at that time is when I made myself known. I walked up to one of the workers and I said...."hello, I know that I'm not here as a patron, I'm not here to wine or dine, and I'm not here to leave you tips.... But just as the three people that just walked in behind me got attention as soon as they walked in, I should have gotten the same respect." I then proceeded to announce that I have been standing there for 10 minutes and no one had attended to me or even said hello or greeted me for that matter. Of course the worker was apologetic and finally went to check to see if my order was ready.... Still it was not. Anyway.... 20 minutes later.... My order was brought out to me by the manager who also apologized to me. I have been delivering for 2 years now and most establishments that I walk in to, I am greeted and attended to promptly.... But not at the Grandview Cafe. I can honestly say that it was the worst experience I've had with restaurant staff since I've been delivering. Anyway... That's my review. I felt compelled to let...
