If you only read one review let it be this one. Some current tea about the complex is that someone is routinely stealing packages (over 1grand worth) and may be squatting in the building! Management cannot find them! or verify if they are living in the property. They searched the property! And any unlocked units! Don’t worry though, they’ve increased their safety measures like putting a “you’re being recorded” sign on the lobby door. I can’t order packages to here, management is consistently overwhelmed by inferior superiors. Save yourself time and (alot) of money and find somewhere else to live.
Oh, and some experiences I’ve had include.
CHILDREN coming into my locked apartment with keys to “test” the keys to every room (including occupied) my neighbor and I looked at each other in disbelief because we’d both just been walked in on by ten year olds. I told management about this and they said they’d look into it. That’s a risk for me AND the children. Doesn’t seem legal! Children were given the keys to everyone’s apartments!
Maintenance have come into our apartment many times without knocking or announcing themselves because they believed it to be unoccupied. We are young women living in the city, is it too much to ask to feel safe in the apartment you pay for? I’ve even had a maintenance man jiggle keys in my room door, not unit, my personal room. To the point where I opened the door to him standing there shocked, just for him to ask me which unit was unoccupied, when NONE ARE. What if I was sleeping?? What if I was changing??
I’ve been having wifi issues in my unit for almost a year now, including my neighbors. Turned out our wifi node wasn’t even functional for the entire time we’ve lived here. Fixing the node didn’t fix the wifi issues and I emailed the location manager and a wifi representative every single day for weeks before I gave up knowing nothing would EVER be done.
Our tv broke on a whim and it took over a month for a replacement.
Maintenance will walk into your room and track mud over anything in their path. I’ve cleaned mud off my bath mats twice now.
I moved here and spend more to feel safer in a complex, with staff, with overnight security, with a lobby. Yet I really don’t feel much safer here, as the staff walk into our unit as they please. It’s treated more like a dorm and tenants more like teenagers than as apartments and as adults.
Staff knows who I am from all of the issues I’ve had here. I’m sure it’s not their fault and they’re at the whim of superiors who care less about how p*ssed tenants get at...
Read moreI couldn’t wait to move out to write this review but honestly i’m just going to write it now.
Let me start by saying this place is NOT hijabi friendly at all:( i have maintenance come in to my place MULTIPLE times randomly prior to calling or scheduling when i told staff not to in multiple maintenance requests.
the staff is absent & not helpful at all. all they care about is moving you in & as soon as they do they don’t address anything in a helpful manner. they take atleast a week, maybe 2, or even months to get back to you if you have any type of questions or requests. The only time they called me multiple times to address something was regarding me moving into another unit of theirs. suddenly i got 3 calls from 3 different people in one day regarding this? ( by the way i was still waiting on a response regarding something else)
they had maintenance wear shoes on my carpets and then took 2 months and some to schedule a carpet cleaning. by the way i expressed how this was a concern for me prior to moving in. & then when they did have the carpet cleaning done the guy opened my door and walked in on me without clothes on because they told him no one lived there?
i moved into my place and i noticed bugs as soon as i moved in, before i moved in my stuff (i noticed them the day i got the key) then the next few months there was more. they took 3 months to properly address this and then they barely addressed it.
When they did address it, pest control wore shoes on my carpet after they were in another unit spraying prior to coming to mine then Lumen said they would have to charge ME for a carpet cleaning ALSO when I asked Pest control about the TYPE of bugs i keep finding SINCE move in he said it was likely the previous tenant left something out and they didn’t do a good job of cleaning the place before moving me in…
The front door will glitch and not always lock.
The walls are super thin that you can hear everything especially upstairs and on the sides of you even though my balcony was closed i could hear every single thing happening outside
i honestly cant wait until my lease ends. it makes me super anxious living here. like you would honestly think it would be better if you’re paying so much. i thought i was the only one but i started asking around to see if people liked living here and a lot of people shared the same thoughts as me.
I’ve addressed EVERYTHING to Lumen Staff. All they do is apologize and never fix anything. it’s literally august and i'm still having these issues with no progress since MAY. it’s...
Read moreMy experience here has been defined by ongoing safety concerns, unreliable amenities, and consistently unprofessional management. The surrounding area feels unsafe, and the building itself doesn’t offer much piece of mind. The front doors and lobby often fail to lock properly at night, allowing anyone to enter freely. Packages are frequently stolen, bikes have gone missing from supposedly secure areas, and fire alarms sound off at all hours without explanation or follow-up.
Inside the apartment, the furniture and appliances are poorly thought out and often dysfunctional. The provided couch doesn’t fit the space, and the washer/dryer constantly display error codes and fail to dry clothes properly. I’m paying over $1,200/month for a unit that feels substandard—especially since rent was reduced shortly after I signed my lease, with no adjustment offered.
To make matters worse, I was charged for a “balcony” that’s actually just a sliding glass door that opens a few inches to a railing. It’s misleading in the listing and potentially dangerous for anyone with pets.
The building’s amenities are largely unusable. Residents aren’t allowed to use the pool or hot tub 90% of the year, the fire pits are broken, the gym is consistently overheated, and the coffee machine is almost always out of order. The Wi-Fi is also extremely unreliable. Meanwhile, lights and TVs in the shared areas stay on all night, wasting energy while real issues go ignored.
Perhaps most frustrating of all is the attitude of the staff. Communication is poor, and when responses do come, they’re often dismissive, judgmental, or outright hostile. I’ve had to involve my parents just to get a reply on basic concerns. Important updates—like a new roommate being moved in—are shared with little or no notice. On top of that, certain staff members glare at me whenever I walk through the lobby, making even shared spaces feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
Lumen is not managed with care, transparency, or respect for its residents. I sincerely hope improvements are made, but based on my experience, I would not recommend...
