I've always loved Giordano's since the first time I had it in Chicago. I was so happy when they brought one to Columbus! My parents were coming to Columbus for Father's Day and they told me to pick the place for lunch. I chose Giordano's because my parents had never had it before. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and the wait (on Father's Day, during COVID-19 with socially distant tables and lower capacity) was only 25 minutes! We were seated even before the 25 minutes was up. Great start! So we sit down and the server, Taylor, came by and we ordered immediately. Since I had been there many times before, I knew the pizzas take about 40-45 minutes to make. The menu also states this. While we're waiting on our pizza, our server swooshes by maybe 2 or 3 times, never stopping to ask how we're doing, she just grabs our empty glasses and moves on quickly. My dad wanted to order another beer, but she would come by the table so fast, that while he was asking for another beer she was already passing our table. She never turned around to acknowledge that he wanted another, but she did bring another right away. So an hour and 15 minutes goes by and we still haven't gotten our pizza. We also have barely seen our server the entire time we've been waiting. I was a server/bartender for 6 years, I know when a server is overwhelmed... the restaurant had a lower capacity, so not all tables were being sat, and she couldn't be that busy when all her tables were waiting on pizzas. It should not be taking that long for the pizza. So we flag our server down and she comes over. She said the "pizzas are running at about an hour and 20 minutes." We were never made aware of that one time since we had arrived an hour and 35 minutes earlier. All of a sudden... she brings our pizzas out within 2 minutes. What a 'miracle'. While we're eating our pizza, she gets sat another table and goes to greet them and I hear her tell them that the pizzas only take 40-45 minutes. So why did ours take so long? Overall, my parents weren't impressed, and I felt bad for picking this place for Father's Day. I've always loved this pizza, but will think twice about dining here...
Read moreMe and my brother go out once a week to new places, we're not foodies but we do enjoy new places often. We heard about the deepdish pizza here being good from a friend who had his delivered via mail as a frozen pizza and we excitedly planned to go to try it fresh. I'll just list the pros and cons
Pros: *Great tasting pizza compared to most mainstream places like papajohns/pizza hut/etc *Polite and friendly staff Cons:The silverware was not clean and had a ton of smudges and on it as if it wasn't cleaned *The glass of beer I had was okay but after the first sip I already noticed it was not a clean glass and had backwash in it or some weird gross mixture of food in it which I can only guess was someone's food that they spit back in their cut and somehow made it to my glass *The seats are very sticky which I thought was maybe cleaning product? or could've been actually sticky from other people *bugs were visible in that place and what bothered me alot is they have a rotating door which is very problematic for bugs to easily get in and me and my brother spent like 15 min swatting flies from our faces
Overall it was okay but I wouldn't recommend it if you want a clean healthy eating atmosphere as not only is the glass dirty with someone's possible backwash or other foods but nothing was clean for eating. The pizza was good but it would be much more worth it making your own deepdish in a large pan which I tried making myself today and turned out nearly as good as theirs which was not bad for a first attempt.
I didn't even mention the fact that the deepfryer was broken so mozzarella sticks and or anything fried was not even an...
Read moreImagine eating a deep dish pizza 5 inches tall of pretty much nothing but cheese and having to pull it off like glue. It was not good at all.
I'll start by saying I ordered a deep dish pizza with 2 salads. Was told it would be a 45 min wait and a total of over $50. I was looking at the pictures online and saw how cheezy the deep dishes were. I don't like a ton of cheese on my pizza so I called back within 1 minute of ordering and switched my order to a thin crust pizza instead. I was then told it would be a 25 minute wait since those pizzas don't take as long to cook. Cool. I get there within 25 mins. Paid the new total which was still expensive around $46. I got no bag to carry my food in. I had to walk back in and ask for forks and napkins since we were from out of town staying in a hotel (and I actually said this while on the phone ordering.) Got back to the hotel, opened the pizza, aaand it's a deep dish. And it was wasn't even hot!!!
So not only did they not switch it to thin crust, but had I actually waited the full 45 mins to pick this up like I was originally told, this would have been cold and inedible. The crazy thing is I actually saw the guy bring my pizza out from the kitchen with another. So I don't know why it was so cold. Our hotel was 4 mins away at the Hilton on Lyra Dr. So I did not have a far drive with it.
I knew I shouldn't have switched it. You cant change anything these days without someone messing up. Not even within literal minutes of ordering. And always always check your food before leaving.
