I have found my new sushi place in Colga. Everything was wonderful. Service- Our waitress was phenomenal. She knew everything about the menu and gave great recommendations. She was so patient and kind. Noticing we ordered an entree that came on a skillet for our 5 yr old (I know, I know, but the kid needs his bulgogi), she set it on a seperate table and brought us a separate plate to keep him safe. She was wonderful! Sushi chef - very kind and efficient. Service as items were completed instead of waiting for the entire table. Asked how everything was and seemed genuinely interested in our answer. Atmosphere - small shotgun style restaurant with few tables and bar in front of the sushi counter. Late 90s early 00's hits playing on the radio. (One of our bench seats was sooooo squeaky though). Food - rolls were well formed and kept their shape (Cali and rainbow). Nigiri was perfectly portioned and so buttery and fresh. Ginger dressing was homemade (different than the pink dressing at the other restaurants in colga, and in the best way). Chicken ramen - daughter (15y) said the broth instantly brought her into a great day. Huge portion, so she had it for dinner and probably lunch tomorrow as well. Bulgogi entree - son (5y) absolutely devoured this. Still a huge portion. So he has plenty of leftovers. Bulgogi was cooked so well and the flavor was great. Bulgogi Cupbap - hubby loved it with the spicy sauce. They do have lunch specials mon-fri, which I'm excited to see about. Kids menu - none available. Seriously, this place was so wonderful we will be...
Read moreService and atmosphere were top tier. The staff, specifically the cashier/hostess, was very friendly and amenable and during that experience (I ordered to-go), I thought I would be coming back to dine in. It’s lovely and quiet and cool inside with a low lit relaxing ambience. For these things I gave 5 stars each… but for the food… easily 1 star. If I could give negative stars I would… and I say that lightly. I ordered spicy tuna roll with Masago followed by the tower sushi (which also came with tuna). In both dishes the tuna was either rotten are starting to go bad. It tasted awful and had a dark brown-gray color to it rather than the light pink-orange color one might expect. In the tower sushi, it’s covered with a bunch of other things, so I did not readily observe the state of the fish (nor did it smell bad) until I actually had it in my mouth. Assuming maybe there was a foul ingredient I did not recognize I ate a piece of the spicy tuna roll and immediately tasted the same thing. I thought maybe the color of the sushi roll at that point before popping it in my mouth was just the flavorings…nope. The Masago that was put on top also had a weird taste to it.
I had also ordered the beef ramen and experienced the same thing. Parts of the beef in my ramen were fresh while other pieces tasted bad like it had begun to spoil. The noodles were also very soggy. The broth was A-1 tho and so were the bits of Naruto. Those were the only good things from my meal…
…and I easily spent $45 dollars on this meal to eat very...
Read moreSo we have been eating at the restaurant. For a few years now sense Covid. It was always extremely good a well prepared food. We went tonight 6/10/24 an ordered 4 sushi rolls cooked A one Katsu plate a one bowl. There is between 4 people. Two kids two adults. To start off with the sushi out of the four rolls the taste was bland not fresh. An all prepared the same way. At the time we found out the owners had changed The katsu was just fried chicken. A before you think that’s what it is look up chicken katsu. This was the start for the first distrust of the new management. To further This. Three out of the people had food sickness one threw up an liquid out the bottom. As well as one of the adults the other kid has had stomachs cramps sense we left one adult had extreme diarrhea headed towards Home Depot in Phenix city. I have yet to show symptoms. I will not eat at this restaurant any more. Due to how food was prepared and served short cuts were taken. A the new chefs skills are not on par with last chef. This a warning to local a traveling people. We had so called cooked sushi. I can only imagine how it would have turned out had we went the other way. Rolls were CSU power Philadelphia tornado. And fried snapper which came out not fried. Chicken ramen. An...
