UNSAFE AND THEY DON'T CARE - DANGEROUS POSSIBLE LIFE ALTERING AND UNPLEASANT DINING EXPERIENCE!!!

Tonight, my husband and I dined at Cafe Amici, and unfortunately, our experience was far from safe and satisfactory. We encountered a major issue food issue. My husband received a MENTAL SHRED in his ordered dish, tortellini Alla Pana!!! The metal shred was a thick as 3 staples wide!!! This not only posed a serious safety concern but also left me questioning the overall hygiene standards in the kitchen. I immediately brought it to the attention of the staff, and they were NOT surprised NOR quick to apologize and rectify our experience. The staff merely brushed pass the critically of this incident as if we shouldn't be concerned. Such an incident should never happen. We have patroned the cafe for over 15 years. We've treated the staff like family, sharing cake on birthdays and other family milestones over the years. Based on our history with the restaurant owner and staff, we very discreetly informed Noel of our life threatening discovery. Unfortunately, we were treated as if it was no big deal and the criticality of the object possibly causing a life threatening experience wasn't brought to their attention. Our history in and of itself should have at least been taken into account and the possible harm that could have been done to my husband if the metal was swallowed. During our previous visit celebrating my family they’ve never turned down cake or any delicacy from us. They’ve always with earnestness let their desires known to partake of our abundance.

This is a two part review, because I believe this place deserves a little special praise. As a recently released patient, I've been put on a restricted diet, and I asked that my meal be prepared a certain way. It still tasted amazing, even after I restricted the chefs use of certain ingredients. As my first real meal, and being accommodated in such an understanding way, Cafe Amici has gone up another notch on my pole, and it already held top tier for my favorite Italian restaurant in the Columbus area. They get a lot of things right without being so incredibly cookie cutter.

In the past I've ordered the Barri and it's been nothing but amazing. Even restricted, it's still amazing. The shrimp are plump and the ratio of shrimp to pasta (I get fettucini/linguine) and vegetables is excellent. Throwing in a side of their steamed broccoli is also equally awesome.

My mother had the pollo saltimboca and everyone agreed that it was probably the best thing on the table. The barri is equally good, when the chef isn't restricted, I promise. Also at the table was a plate of pollo piccata which was called "tender" and rated a 7 out of 10 and told that it was on par with Carrabas veal piccata.

The spinach and cheese manicotti was more cheese than spinach and getting spinach as a side is not wilted spinach, but previously frozen spinach. Just in case you decide to get it. They don't tell you up front and it was a disappointment for one of our diners, but they changed it out with no problem.

The decor is a little dark and dated, but you know what, who cares. Carrabas is dark like a smokers den and still delicious, and this place is, too. The delicious part, not the dark like a smokers den part. What matters is the people, the food, and the people you bring. So take good people who...

What an awesome meal I truly enjoyed this was my first time sitting down to eat at this restaurant A friend brought some home about 4 years ago and I have never been able to get to this restaurant why I don't know so glad I decided to come and sit down and enjoy the meal that I had it was amazing the service was top-notch that young lady was so sweet she even mixed my alcoholic drink for me because I was so undecided so she made me something really special and I thank her for that the tiramisu was amazing I took that home had it the next day the one thing that I did want to try I forgot to try and that was the Caesar salad so that means I will be back for Caesar salad and something special this was a great treat. treat yourself love yourself enjoy yourselves 08/08/2025 I came here tonight for dinner and I didn't remember to order the Caesar salad what a terrible mistake that was the salad was not very good at all to me the croutons were soft as butter the lettuce was wilted and the flavor was not great I'm a firm believer and not sending your food back to the kitchen because we all know what happens.... my spaghetti carbonara was awesome along with the sweet tea I did not get dessert this time outside of the horrible Caesar salad my mail did satisfy me wasn't the best service either but I guess you can't win them all one out of...
