Gongcha Columbus — Restaurant in Columbus

After going to Kung Fu Tea countless times, we decided to give Gong Cha a try since Kung Fu tends to be very busy…now I understand why. The customer service at Gong Cha was lacking. The guy taking orders just stared at us, waiting for us to give our order without saying a word to acknowledge our presence. That immediately put us off, but we were hopeful that the tea would still be good - it wasn’t. The tapioca pearls had more flavor than the tea itself did since the tea tasted watered down like it had been poured hot over ice, causing the ice to melt quickly. It tasted like milky water.

When I get tea from Kung Fu I am always amazed by how good it is and it always tastes the same, even when my family and I went to their location in Brooklyn, NY. First time attempting to come here. Upon walking in I wasn't greeted at all. It was completely empty inside and two workers at the register but again no one said anything. So I just spoke to them but instead of greeting me back they just stared. Seeing as this was my first time seeing their full menu I just started to look over it to decide what to order and when I looked back at the two workers they looked at each other and laughed. Not once did they ask if I needed a recommendation. Not sure what made them laugh either as this interaction lasted less than 2 minutes. I just turned around and left as I refuse to give my money to a business that clearly could care less about their customers.

I would definitely urge the company to do a refresher training ASAP as this behavior could be detrimental in the long run.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. It is new, a redecorated Outback steakhouse. The staff is friendly and polite. The mechanics are a bit daunting at first...you must first choose K pot (soup based meal) or grill (cooking over a burner), or both! Regardless you input the food items you desire, meats, vegetables, and sides. There's a lot to choose from. Lastly there is a salad bar arrangement of additional simple side items and ingredients for your meal.
