After our favourite Mexican place changed ownership (and menu) we looked for somewhere else - My girlfriend is very picky. Tried Los Mariachis last night, and we found our new Mexican place.
Atmosphere and decor was pleasing, restaurant was clean and inviting, no red flags from anything I saw inside. Staff was very friendly and immediately attentive when I came in. (I went in ~8pm and it was not busy.)
The person taking my order wrote it down and repeated it back to me twice to ensure he got it right, which I appreciate. It is a pet peeve of mine when restaurant staff attempt to memorize orders from multiple people, then get the details wrong. (My guy got it right on the first try, but I still think double checking deserves praise.)
Menu prices were extremely reasonable. We averaged $12.50/person, which is like not unreasonable at Arby's, much less a not-fast-food place.
The food was -great-. We have been disappointed with many dine-in Mexican places in Columbus, but not here. Portions were generous, sauce flavourful, cheese plentiful. My only complaint was the salsa had no spice to it at all - and that was a selling point for my...
Read moreOrdered 2 Beef and Bean Burritos and a pork tamale to go- they do not have plain tamales, which is strange. Burritos were wet with liquefied bean and cheese on top. Not expecting that especially since it did not specify on menu. Beef was Taco Bell grade taste, texture, and quality- not shredded. Got my order tamale was missing, went back to get and it was wet! With the same ground beef strewn across with pork inside. I am confused. My buddy ordered a Burrito Grande, supposed to come with beef and chicken. No chicken inside, same ground up beef. He asked the host about his rice and beans...he said, it's inside the Burrito. He lied. Salsa for chips was meh, chips burnt or old oil. Go with the cheaper, qualified, and continued standard of Chipotle, El Pollo Loco, or elsewhere. Totally disappointed. Mind you, I lived in SoCal for quite some time, I know authentic Mexican Food, including the "Americanized". Dis ain't it. Should have taken photos before discarding what was left. I ate most because I paid for it, I am not wasteful, and I do not believe it...
Read moreEven though the food was good, there are other restaurants that serve similar good food, too. ONE Star review, due to the service was horrible. 1st very slow, & inattentive. The server had an attitude that make you feel unwelcomed. Asking a little suggestion on a recommendation on the food, it felt like we were a burden for asking. The worst restaurant service. If anyone works in a restaurant, especially as a server....that's what the title is, " Server" , should be happy to work there to serve, food. Then took a while to come back to our table.... I need refills. It was slow, not that busy. But workers were busy. Buy w/ each other talking w/ each other. Instead they should be checking on their tables they are serving.... I shouldn't wave them over to get my check..... I will make sure, my network of friends know the food is good, but they would be treated better some places else. Unless they like to feel unwelcome, & unappreciated for bringing in business to their restaurant.
I will just get my Mexican food somewhere else. They are not the only...
