I’m really sad I have to write this review. This place has soo much potential, and plus it’s halal, this place could bring the muslim community together. I like to support small halal restaurants like these, but this place is almost the worst I have ever seen. There is one phone number for both the store and the restaurant, and the guy had to walk back after cashing the customer out in the store, so they could take my order. I arrived at the time they told me to come. I entered through the restaurant door, and waited and waited, but no one came up. I entered through the store, and it turns out the take out part, was through a small window at the store, which I didn’t mind. I ordered a mixed grill platter, but there was no smell of food, and no sound of cooking. The guy kept smiling at me, almost like he knew something was wrong. While he thought I was looking away, he opened the fridge and grabbed kababs with his bare hands, and started to heat them up. I got really scared, from what I saw. I really don’t care if the restaurant heats up the food, I just like being told. Plus, it’s chicken and you don’t want to mess with chicken like that. Who knows how many days the kababs have been setting there. Any how, for $17 dollars for some chicken kababs and white rice. Isn’t really worth it, plus with all that gambling on...
Read moreThe food quality is variable by item. Chicken tikka was terrible, chicken seekh kebab was okay at best with burnt parts, the chicken kerai was mediocre, the naans were really good. Everything is cooked on the spot though some of the stuff seems like it was sitting around for awhile before being cooked.
The presentation was okay, it's just one chef and one other worker and it seems like a small scale operation so for that it was good presentation. The workers are chill.
The restaurant looks nice on the inside, I liked the decorum, the walls and hanging decorum. The chairs and tables were good, comfy, high level stuff. The carpet smelled and was dirty. I'd take out just because of that unless you want to smell like old curry after awhile.
Service time took about ~20 minutes which I think for the order size and the workers was good.
Bathroom is pretty dirty. Lots of flies in the...
Read moreWe were across the road at a hotel for a work trip and found Makkah Restaurant. I ordered for pickup through doordash which is a great option. I’m from rural Ky and don’t know how to pronounce things but I want to try it all.
Everything we tried was delicious! I’m surprised they weren’t busier but it might have just been a slow time. If I lived in the area I’d be back all the time. The prices were good and everything was hot and fresh, and packaged very carefully to prevent accidents during travel. We tried the chicken biryani, butter chicken, achar, tandoori naan, chai, and Kashmiri chai (around 35 for everything). The butter chicken doesn’t come with rice but I knew that from reading other reviews so we had a side order of biryani. We definitely over ordered but now we have dinner for after work tomorrow. Definitely give this...
