Poblano’s Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Columbus

Walking into this place, I loved the decor s as well as the size of the bar. Where i always sit. Got chips and salsa just after I sat down. The menu selection here is quite large and was quite tough for me to make a selection. They serve Mocajetes but I decided to go with a plate called ‘El Amigo’ It was a friend indeed. It comes with four different meats including Aracherra. Este carne is not meant to be a tender cut but more for its spices and texture of a thin, well done cut. They nailed it here. Chicken, shrimp and chorizo rounds out this plate to make a really good dinner. Rice was pretty good as well as the beans. We’ll be back for sure!

And i came back,lol. This time tried the Arros con mariscos A plate with a bed of rice and shrimps with scallops, both pan fried i suspect. Didn’t know what to expect, it was really good. Cheesy for sure, good rice with Spanish rice flavor. The salad comes on the plate, pretty plain, but no problem. The scallops were cooked very nicely, not the grilled crispness i really want, but nice and tender. Shrimp tender in inside, nice snap on the outside. Thursday is $5 Margarita night, glad i got an Uber, the Texas margaritas are per good at that price.

This place used to be my go to when I came into town and I was highly disappointed to have spent $75 here. my server norma definitely put in her work and was fantastic! Food was okay but it really didn't sit right with me was how they are scamming people out of cheese dip. I ordered a large dip and a small dip because we had a party of seven four adults three children And my intent initially was not to call them out but I asked for a couple extra saucers to split some of the dip up amongst the children and I grabbed the large dip and started to divide it to my surprise the large dip which was over $10 was the exact same size as the small dip which was like $6.50 norma watched me pour it into one saucer she herself looked like she was in disbelief when she came back from talking to the manager I guess they decided that I would just pay $6.50 for each of them instead of making it right and just giving me more cheese dip The price wasn't the issue ever we were just trying to have enough dip to go around to all the kids and the adults. So again if you go here do not order the large cheese dip it I s the exact same size that you get in the small they just want to charge you...

Consistently is everything to us and we have been constantly consistent in going there until here recently. You think your server knows you, lol. Someone should has much as we have eaten there. The food is great closest to AUTHENTIC we had eaten in Columbus. 99% of the time the service, wait time is none and the food is hot and well worth the price and you have some to take home, if you know our reviews we have high standards so it only takes once for us to say, nah nope I will make it myself and will not spend one dime with any company, place or establishment. Poblanos has been our favorite for years but one night we went in for chips and a drink we had just been there that week and the atmosphere, attitudes were different, we went with 45 mins to an hour before they closed and our drink though normally perfection was different and we expressed it and it was not appreciated. They did give us shots to to bring our drinks to the standard we had come to know however we just didn't feel the welcome and interaction we had come to love, know and expect and the food had for us become a repeat. You will enjoy the food, go eat and the chips and salsa/ cheese too...
