So I was super excited for the LOTR MTG prerelease.. I work until 7 PM and myself and two colleagues called ahead to make sure it was okay to show up late and still be able to play just with less time to deck build, the representative on the phone (Cam) and the store manager (Scott) informed me it would be fine. I asked again for reassurance stating I would arrive at 7:30 PM - they took our names down and told me it would be fine and was not a problem. At 7 PM I rushed out of work, and got to the store at 7:20 PM to my surprise they told me and my two friends that we could not play. Worst part, my best friends engagement party is tomorrow and I have a seven hour drive to it. I chose to drive to it tomorrow morning rather than tonight so that I could take part in the prerelease. Oh and I chose to do this rather than work late when we all work commission sales and would have made more money. So overall, we were promised something that simply did not happen and not only ruined our nights, but made the use of our nights worthless when it could’ve been used making more revenue or traveling to an important event. I will never be coming back to this establishment and will let every single person I know that does this as a hobby. It’s going to be a great conversation to have with my future customers...
Read moreI love the Guardtower! I play in a DnD campaign that is hosted in the backroom and the DM is actually funded and supported by the store. As a father with young children, finding and scheduling games is a nightmare, so the convenience and consistency of this service is unparalleled. I stumbled across the opportunity on Discord and was playing a week later. I don't live in Reynoldsburg, and there are three? other game stores that are MUCH closer to me, but twice a month I come to the Guardtower East because of this service. It also gives me an opportunity to shop which can be hard in my schedule. It's not enough to lower my rating, but if I have one issue with the store, it's that the noise level in the backroom on Sundays is loud, there is only a curtain between us and the war gamers. I love that there is so much diversity of gameplay, but it would be a huge improvement to lower the noise and provide a better...
Read moreUsed to think this was a great local game store! They usually have very fair pricing and I didn't feel like they were one of the stores out to solely make money, regardless of how it affects the customer. Today's experience has completely changed my mind. I pre-ordered the spider-man mtg booster box and was given a fair price ($167 and change) upon my initial interaction with store employee. When I went this morning to pay and collect my product, they had changed the price to over $225! No mention of the change until I asked for an itemized receipt of my purchase. Looking back, I remembered thinking it was odd they didn't collect payment upon placing the pre-order. I guess it was so that they could play the market price. Shame when your local store treats their business...
