Resch's Bakery — Restaurant in Columbus

Horrible customer service. I hope this was a one time experience and no one else deals with this. We order several cakes a year for our birthdays. As of recent we ordered a cake last week Tuesday/Wednesday for pick up Saturday. This was my mom’s 50th birthday. We cut into the cake and it didn’t seem as fresh but couldn’t really tell. Upon eating the cake it tasted a little stale. As if it were made early or premade and iced again. They were closed Sunday and Monday was a holiday. I recently called today to file a complaint. I didn’t ask for a remake or even a refund. When complaining I was told I was talking to a manager who sounded like a younger female. I was placed on hold for several minutes she got my information and advised she apologized but for future reference save a piece of the cake that we threw away as it wasn’t good. I said ok I was unaware and we never had an issue before with the cakes after all of our orders as a family and just wanted them to know about the issue. She then proceeded to tell me they would redo the cake as a courtesy and apologized and stated her “big boss” had an issue with what was stated and they would like a piece to quality control. I let her know ok well it would’ve been stale regardless at that point. She gave me a pick up date for this Saturday and said no worries we will remake that for you everything will be fine. 2 minutes later I get a call from another manager and he asked what was the problem I let him know again and he states “why did you wait so long?” I let him know I run my own business and it was a holiday weekend and my kids were sick once I got that together I called. Once again not to ask for remake or refund on my original call but to complain. I let him know that was very unprofessional and gave advice on how to ask questions or let us know policies that we were unaware of. We are extremely disappointed and hope no one else gets...

I went in the bakery grabbed my ticket; somehow, the lady who called the next number, didn’t know who was next; the manager was waiting on a lady I didn’t mean to interrupt the manager, but she took the last customer; I was trying to get the last number called so we would know the number count; the manager talked to me so bad; and, said to me what number do you have? The tone was extremely nasty and I told her I said you’re being rude to me she said well you were being rude to me by interrupting me when I’m helping a customer; so, I tried to explain that I didn’t mean to do that but the other lady lost count and she called the last customer over and; if, we could get the number of the last number she called, we could get the orders going again; she was not trying to hear anything I had to say I was just trying to help. I will never do that again. I will let the staff handle it themselves. She didn’t see any of this that conspired, and I was trying to explain to her that the young lady had lost count; and, we I just wanted the last number she called over; She continue to talk about how rude I was and talking about me with the other customer as well and I can hear it! I have been coming to Rita’s bakery since I was a child that has been many years. I have never experienced being treated so badly at this bakery before I am surprised and very frustrated! I tried to talk to the manager to make sure all was well; but they told me she was busy...

If you want delicious bakery items for a reasonable price, you should definitely give this place a try.

If your main concern is finding a bakery that is organized and professional, you might want to keep looking.

Every time we go to Resch's the food always blows us away. I mean it's really really good. We actually found out about Resch's because a friend used them for his wedding cake and it blew our minds and asked them where it was from. 2 years later we ordered our wedding cake from Resch's. They were a little difficult to work with. A lot of hold time to get to the right person. A little "well, there's only one person here that is trained to go over that information and they're only here one day a week". If I'm being fair, it wasn't horrible, just not what you hope for when planning a wedding.

Anyway, the cake was delivered and it was delicious as expected. My wife was a little upset at the color of the cake though. The pictures showed a very dull subtle pink for he trim and what we got was almost a hot pink. My wife still talks about how she was a little embarrassed about it.

Despite a few hiccups in our wedding cake experience we still go here to buy cakes and sometime doughnuts. Their cake is so good they probably could have dropped our wedding cake on the floor and we'd still keep...
