The food was good; the service was not.
Our server did not check back frequently. For instance, I had to get up to grab some napkins after waiting a few minutes. I had to ask another server for some hot sauce, once again, after waiting a few minutes. Also, we were seated by a server station, where on multiple occasions the employees chatted about their day, problems, and anecdotes. It seemed ridiculous.
YET, these reasons are not why I gave the restaurant one star.
My wife asked for some hazelnut creamer. A few minutes later, a young waiter/busboy stopped buy and placed about 20 creamers on the table next to my food. He had a very self satisfied smirk on his face.
I looked at him and asked him if this was a joke? He acted surprised as if his actions weren't ridiculous. He interrupted my family's meal in order to play a joke? get a laugh from coworkers? get back at my server for asking him to grab the creamers? My wife and I have no idea why he would decide to be so rude.
I told him to take the creamers off of the table. Once again, he feigned surprise then grabbed about 15 of them off of the table. I then asked him to grab the rest and leave one. I told him that his actions were ridiculous.
As he left and walked back to the kitchen, he had a nice sized grin on his face.
When my service came back to the table, I asked to speak with a manager. She informed me that she was a manager. I was irritated at this point, so I told her what happened and asked if she was involved, but what I meant was, "Did the busboy/server do this to get back at you for something?"
She left to talk to the young man. When she returned, she told me that she spoke with him. Upon return a few minutes later, she explained that he is just a 14 yr old (not sure if accurate), which to us seemed like she dismissed his actions; however, I cannot speak to what exactly the repercussions of his actions actually were because it isn't my business.
I'm an educator. I get that at his age maybe this was a funny joke; however, it was incredibly rude. It seems that maybe his reprimand was not enough because throughout the rest of my meal, he would glance over with a smile on his face.
My family was visiting from out of town. Marie Scramblers is one of our go to places in Columbus area. Not only will we not visit this Marie Scramblers, we will not visit another one anywhere.
I still tipped our waitress because the business isn't an easy one. I just hope that this review gives pause to people considering this restaurant, and/or encourages other customers to voice their concerns as well,...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I both ordered omelettes and they were both so over-cooked that the eggs were brown and rubbery. Our hash browns were soggy and in a pool of oil, the omelette filling tasted metalic as though it all came from a can, and the wait staff checked on only once after 15 minutes of being served. We stopped eating our food a couple minutes after the plates arrived because it was so bad, which meant we sat for roughly 10 minutes with untouched food in front of us. Our waitress said she would get the GM, but the GM never showed up. Instead, she brought a check a few minutes later, said that she took off the entrees, then walked away. No apologies, no professionalism, and no GM.
I'm not interested in making a scene and I was courteous when I discussed what was wrong with the meal. All I hope for is the same level of courtesy in return.
This experience was on a Sunday at 11am. A lot of people seem to enjoy the food, so maybe we got the misfortune of being there with a backup cook and a wait staff that was having a bad day. I get it — things don't always go according to plan. But when that happens, all I hope for is professionalism in the response. What I don't want is a dropped off check with no follow up as though nobody can be bothered. We...
Read moreI placed an online to go order here on a Sunday afternoon. I figured they would be busy due to it being the weekend so I didn’t mind if it was not ready right away. I placed the order while sitting outside of the location and gave them about 15 mins to prepare it. I went inside to get my order and waited in line behind others for another 10-15 mins before anyone even greeted us at the door. I instantly thought about how cold my food was going to be by the time I got it and got it home. Well I was right. I got my meal home and it was cold as ice. Not only that my seasonal stuffed French toast (strawberries, yet it is February) didn’t even appear to have been cooked. It was literally two soggy pieces of bread that were lightly browned and cold. On the inside the was a small amount of cream cheese and butter that was not even melted. I also ordered a side of bacon. The bacon was under cooked COLD and extremely salty! On top of all of that I was not even given syrup for the “so called” French toast . I am extremely disappointed with the service and the food quality. I will never place an order here again. I attempted to call and see about a new order or a refund but the number listed for the business “were not able to...
