Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Columbus

Waited 30 minutes inside for my food and the person i was with. They lost the order then realized it when the waiter asked. I said I'd just pay for the milkshakes and didnt want to wait for the food at that point. They comped the 2 milkshakes for the inconvience. Drove around to the drive through since I was still hungry and left without my food. Waited 15 minutes for the one car in front of me to get their food, and about 10 more after I pulled up to get mine. I didn't get the fries or drink since she didn't hear me say I wanted a combo, but I said I wanted a Coke which she didn't hear through the speaker. Ended up getting the coke free. Bad experience but overall after waiting about 50 minutes total I got 2 free milkshakes and a free coke. Not too bad, just annoying. Will avoid in the future.

EDIT FOR MY SECOND TRIP HERE, 10/15/16 10:15 AM Waited 3 minutes at the speaker while 1 car was at the window to get their food. Was told it would be just one moment. Waited 2 more minutes and drove away. This is the worst and slowest location I have ever been to. Left this location and went straight to the Georgesville location.

EDIT FOR FOURTH TRIP 5/10/18 8:15pm* Third trip was just as bad, but i was too annoyed to post a review. This time the girl on the speaker left looooong awkward pauses after my order. Had very bad microphone etiquette. Forgot to ring up my 2 cokes. Had to wait 13 minutes at the window to get my food. I asked for 2 cokes and had to wait 6 more minutes after handing them my card again to pay. Pulled into a parking spot to eat, found my burgers had very soft, half missing tomatoes, NO condiments, and NO pickles. Returned it for a refund.

WHY DO I KEEP GIVING THIS PLACE A CHANCE!? I LOVE THE ONE NEAR MY HOUSE, BUT THIS IS THE WORST LOCATION....

Had the absolute worst restaurant experience we have ever had tonight at this location. Service was absolutely terrible, they messed up literally every item in my boyfriend's order and had to remake his hot dog THREE times (after it was taken back to the kitchen it was made incorrectly again and the server caught it before it came back out), he had to wait over 30 minutes for coffee and still ask twice for cream, and they pretty much forgot his soup until he asked for it a second time. The floor was disgusting and it seemed like we were not the only table that was having issues due to mistakes with orders or kitchen slowness/forgetfulness. And service was REALLY slow, even though there were exactly five tables in the entire place. Could hear the waitstaff and the cooks yelling at each other and it was just an all-around anxiety-inducing and uncomfortable experience. We wanted milkshakes and a coffee refill but it had been such a hassle trying to order everything else that we did not even bother. They comped much of our order because they messed up on almost every single item and to apologize for the terrible experience. The staff were friendly to us even though they were clearly stressed out. Those were the only positives about our experience. Food was mediocre and my boyfriend didn't even get most of his until after everyone else was done eating. We will absolutely not be back to this location. I really hope everyone who works there has much better nights from...

Just your "run of the mill" S&S. Service can be quick or it can vary, typical of this type of fast food stop. But this chain is not like the other fast food stops....hoofs on a paper sheet, waiting for a taker.... the food is prepared fresh and they offer other sides beside the oil roasted spud varieties. This sets them above the hoofers in not getting you in and out on a slick of oil. If it were possible to change the attitudes of the service staff to personable engagement from the typical indifferent bored teen so typical of this target service staff group to "I'm glad you're here to dine with us, how can we tempt you today...' ( I know... it's easier to get them to sit in a chair, bored with everything except the vapid world they surf on their cell phones [don't get me started...] than engage with the world about them and find that the real world is more than a few clicks every few seconds....bored......) . I would not be complete in this review if I didn't mention the shakes and ice cream goodies they offer. What can be said about using great quality ice creams over to typical " poo" textured glop that is excreted by others in this chain food choice genre...... I rest my tush in front of a double chocolate shake! ( 2 extra star rating points because of extended non-oiled food sides and ice cream delights......the best the competition can get ranges from- 2 to 1.789) I expect better...
