We stayed at this hotel while on a two-night vacation to explore the city. Our check-in experience was fine, and the front-desk employee was pleasant. When we entered our room, we were confronted with a very damp odor…and not just a little bit either. Our initial reaction was “well, maybe if we turn up the a/c that will solve the problem.” No dice. And to further contribute to our impression of this room, there were two, rather large dead flies laying on the a/c unit. This made us ask ourselves, “How long as it been since anyone has been in this room?”||We returned to the front desk and informed the (same) front-desk employee that the room had a very damp odor and that were requesting a different room. As it turns out, another staff member assisted the front-desk person and told us, “Oh, some of our rooms have a bit of a smell, but most people get used to it.” I politely repeated my request for a different room. We received our new keys and went to our new room. This room also had a noticeable damp odor, but it was less offensive than the first room. As we were staying only two nights, we decided to accept the room and make the best of things. We were grateful for the pleasant and helpful attitude of the staff in making this room change. ||Overall this hotel is below the standard we have become accustomed to at other Hampton Inns. In addition to the guest room odor, the property has a general run-down appearance, and our bathroom was in serious need of renovation. Specifically, there was visible mildew in the grout adjacent to the bathtub, and the more than 25% of the surface area of the bathroom door hinges were covered in rust. This would not be acceptable in any hotel, but it was very surprising to see in a Hampton Inn by Hilton. There are five other hotels in the immediate vicinity of this property, and we would choose any one of them before ever staying at this...
Read moreGarth, the general manager, was extremely rude when discussing an error that occurred on the part of Hilton in relation to identity theft concerns. He even hung up on me when I was just trying to make sure my identity isn't being stolen by someone at their hotel.
Basically I received an email that I had checked into this Hilton in Colombus, Ohio where I have never even visited. When I called to ask if someone was checked in under my name they said yes. I was obviously concerned and the girl who attended me on 9/29 at 11am was extremely rude to begin but at least she apologized in the end when we both were concerned that someone who has an ID that matches my name but had a card on file that was a pre-paid visa card without a name was a little weird and outside of protocol where they typically require a physical card to be presented.
I had a bad gut feeling about it since the situation didn't really seem resolved and I googled this could be related to identity theft, human trafficking, etc and the young lady offered to give my info to the general manager Garth. When I called to follow up on the situation he was extremely defensive and rude. I don't know what their typical protocol is for this type of situation but I don't fully feel safe without having 2 forms of name verification for example the ID and maybe a CC with the same name on it?
Horrible person, I wasn't going to leave a review but he forced by hand when he rudely hung up on someone who is concerned about an error HILTON made and sent to their email. Very unprofessional - won't be using Hilton...
Read moreI make sure I go out of my way to compliment good people. I also do so for poor customer service. Such was my stay on June 23. I booked my room on line through my Hilton Honors account. (Been a member for over 24+ years.) The room I booked was next to the electrical room. It doesn't state anything on your hotel map to indicate that. After moving all of of our things in on the cart and returning it we were relaxing after a long trip. Just then a generator or compressor started going off. We could here it through the wall. I went down to explain it to the front desk. There was no one there so I had to wait and knock at the entry door. When someone came (I think it was Chris? Tall, slender, balding.) I explined my plight he actually said, "What do you want me to do about it?" Need I say more.
Then the following morning after checking out and having havi breakfast I went to get a couple of cups of coffee to go. Both of the Light and Dark Roast were out. When I went to find the associate they were standing in the kitchen. It looked like they were on there phone. I informed her the coffee was out and snd asked if she had anymore. It tuned out she hadn't even started on it and there were two empty dispensers just sitting on the kitchen counter. Lazy.
Both these people need retraining. If they do no improve they should be dealt with...
