Stopped in on a Thursday before noon for lunch for the first time. Let's start with the good.
Service - on point. I only had 2 plates but each time they were cleared as I went back to the buffet. My water was refilled as well. Great service.
Now to the not-so-good.
Food. Where to start. Some of it was good, most of it wasn't. I had high hopes as our town hasn't had a good Chinese buffet in years. This isn't one either.
Selection was standard fare, mostly just chicken. There wasn't a beef or pork dish served on this day, all chicken, veggies, and seafood. That imitation crab seafood dish in particular, along with a couple of shrimp dishes and a stuffed crab. More on that in a bit.
First go through a buffet, I always try a little bit of everything that looks good. I got a couple of pieces of Maki rolls, the pepper chicken, General Tsos chicken, fried rice, and the Italian shrimp. First plate wasn't bad. The Maki I tried was a tempura shrimp and was good. The wasbi they offered was a radioactive green color so I left that on the plate. The fried rice had some sort of funky taste to it, and I didn't finish it. The chicken dishes were fine, though the Italian shrimp tasted old and fishy, I couldn't finish it. It was in breading that was wet, limp, and the shrimp tasted off.
2nd plate was mostly Maki rolls. Encouraged by the first couple of pieces, I decided to go for more. Big mistake. I had what appeared to a couple of pieces of tuna roll which were just gross. I had some other piece of a big Maki roll that I couldn't identify that I literally had to spit out. I thought it contained some sort of tempura in the middle, but it wasn't. I don't know what it was, but it was just terrible. On that plate I also had some of their noodles (limp, mushy), crab rangoon (too sweet of a filling, all cream cheese loaded with sugar), and a chicken eggroll which would have been good it if weren't so soggy. The filling was good, but the exterior was a soggy mess.
I had ever intention of trying the made to order hibachi, but upon walking up to the line to see what I could include on my plate, a horrible smell hit me from their kitchen, so I decided to pass.
Lunch was 10.50 with tax before tip. I tried it. I won't be going back. I wish we could get a decent Chinese buffet here in town.
