If you want to be ignored as soon as walk in the door and then again when you walk to the service counter, for several minutes at a time, then I have a horrible place for you to try. As soon as we entered the door, three employees were playing kung-fu behind the counter. They did not stop even we had walked up to the counter. One employee did walk out of the kitchen and he did greet us with the usual "Welcome to Firehouse." The other 3 guys continued to pretend fight each other behind the counter and when they sort of stopped they gathered around an Ipad looking and talking about God only knows what. I can definitely tell you that I was not work related. My wife and I were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. The guys behind the counter really just kinda ignored us for the first 2-3 minutes. Finally one of them decided to take our order. He very hastily rushed thru taking my wife's order. He barely let her say what sandwich and soup she wanted. After each item she said he quickly said very bluntly, "Is that it?" Then it came my turn. OMFG, I think he might have been high. I have never had to repeat myself over and over as many times as I did there today. Within 1 minute I was asked if I wanted the combo 4 times. He could stop talking to his work buddy to pay attention to the customers that were in front of him. Some of the other reviews mentioned that they did not get their pickle which I was pretty sure came with the meal, whether or not you got the combo. Let me tell you, I was not very happy to discover that neither my wife or I received our pickles when we returned home. Also don't get the soup here. We came around lunchtime so you'd think that the soup would be fresh-ish. It was lukewarm and what added insult to injury was that when the 2 other kung-fu fighters behind the counter who were "making" the sandwiches placed the soup in the bag upside down on the lid and on top of our sandwiches. Didn't notice that til we got in the car. We have eaten at several other Firehouse locations in Columbus and have NEVER been treated the way we have today. Even the Sawmill location which is a very busy location has never once done anything remotely close to what this location has accomplished today. It is very sad because we don't live far from the Hilliard-Rome location and now if we want Firehouse Subs we will have to travel 10-15 miles out of the way. I don't think I will ever go back to any Firehouse Subs, ever. I believe if this location keeps this up they might as well be shut down. The subs were not very good. We both ordered Tuna subs and at least half of my sub didn't even have tuna in it (Man, me let tell you I just didn't settle well with me to have a wheat and cheese sandwich for half of my sub). No pickle, lukewarm soup, subpar overpriced subs and abysmal customer service has definitely turned me away for trying Firehouse Subs anytime soon. But if I had to say anything good about this experience today is that my wife DID enjoy her cherry Coke. But really, that's a self serve freestyle machine from Coke that did the good job. The machine was very attentive to what my wife wanted to drink. Thank you Coke!
I know that this review was kinda of comical but I couldn't make up what happened here today. Please don't make the same mistake my wife and I did today. Stay away from the Hilliard-Rome Firehouse Subs. You will...
Read moreIt was my first time ordering food at Firehouse Subs. However, the experience was quite a letdown. The associate at the counter did not give us too warm of a welcome. Our sandwich orders were missing pickles, there were no veggies on our subs, the wheat bread was rather too dry, and it seemed as though the subs were somewhat too small. Even with small subs, there was not really enough flavor packed into them to justify the price tag.
Overall, I am extremely disappointed in my expectations about Firehouse Subs in general.
EDIT: After the disappointing experience I had the first time about a couple of years ago, I returned to this location, and I was amazing at the different experience I had with Firehouse Subs. The Hero Sub and the Hook and Ladder subs were plentiful of toppings, there was a lot of meat and cheese, and the wheat bread was very soft and easy to bite into. Definitely a lot of flavor built into the subs, and sure, there was a bit of a wait, but the wait was well worth it! The staff was very friendly and gave us a pleasant experience there.
Thank you so much for allowing me to give you guys a second chance. I have had a change of heart and finally would recommend people try out the amazing subs that Firehouse Subs...
Read moreThis is not representative of all Firehouse Subs, just the Hilliard Rome Road location. Terrible service and a completely awkward experience. No "Welcome to Firehouse Subs" upon entry but 4 employees staring at us from behind the counter, all with headphones in. Their faces made me think we we're walking into a closed store (It was 6:30pm). We walked across the store to order. I smiled and made eye contact with multiple workers, one of which was directly behind the cash register but keeping a safe distance as to not engage us. It was so awkward!!! Finally, one of the other workers asked the girl on the other end of the bar to come help us. She was friendly but it clearly seemed like we were straining them. She took our orders and told us it would be a 5 min wait. The got our orders right for the most part. One minor error that isn't worth explaining or getting upset over. I just couldn't believe the service. Will not be back to this location unfortunately. Again, this is not at all representative of the company as a whole. We have had great...
