I haven't the slightest idea why the rating for this place is so high. I went here with two other friends and nobody had a great experience. We didn't go during whatever happy hour everyone seems to be talking about in the review, so I can't speak for the sushi prices then; however, the sushi prices at normal are incredibly over-priced. I ordered a roll that was fried in tempura batter but the batter was totally unseasoned and bland (meaning, it was probably from a box-made batter).
They serve a small selection of Korean dishes which was my main draw for going here. I ordered their bulgogi and it was absolutely dreadful. The meat was practically grey. Typically bulgogi beef is cooked directly on a grill and has a charred kind of flavor, but this was bland and disgusting. Between the protein and the vegetables, I don't think anything touched a grill, as it tasted like it was entirely made in a boiling pot. Every inch of the plate they served the food on was covered in the juices from the meat (which, again, if you're grilling meat that shouldn't ever happen).
My friend ordered one of the other Korean dishes, Bokkeum, which also had an entire plate full of what I'm assuming was chili-oil. He was not happy with his dish either.
TLDR; I would not go here at gunpoint. This may be the absolute worst Asian food experience I've had in Ohio. You would genuinely have a better time getting food poisoning from some sketchy hole-in-the-wall take-out place...
Read moreFor those wanting to venture outside of Kroger sushi a bit, this is a great place to start! Sushi En's menu contains pages of options, which came off a bit intimidating at first until we broke it down into sushi-only. Still was pretty confusing maneuvering through all the pages. We ordered Negimaki $7.95 (beef slices grilled in teriyaki wrapped around asparagus) and the Chicken Yakitori $6.95 (skewered, teriyaki-grilled chicken with peppers & onions) appetizers. Negimaki is always delicious and my go to appetizer at sushi restaurants. I've never had Chicken Yakitori before, so I had no idea what to expect and ended up really impressed with the presentation. However, the chicken tasted really dry and we were happy we tried it! We stuck to only Sushi En Special rolls that were conveniently all on the same page. The tastiest one was the Last Samurai Roll ($15.95), next best was the Monroe Roll ($13.95), and I can't remember the 3rd rolls we tried but it was okay, would avoid next time if I could remember what it was called... Overall, a neat sushi conveniently located right in Polaris and close-by. Definitely will be back to try...
Read moreWe had not been there for a year or so. Sushiko is our favorite sushi restaurant. But we were at the movie next door this evening. It started fine. We ordered an go the drinks and gyoza came out quickly. The gyosa was not hot. Then a couple of minutes later, our salads and soup, and a plate of ika salad, seaweed salad and edamame came out, all together. There wasn't room on the table. The edamame was cold and unsalted. And then two minutes later, c a plate of sushi arrived. All this and then two minutes after, the teriyaki salmon and chicken arrived. This is a menu item, a two person dinner. And literally it was all placed on the table within fine minutes from start to finish. Lots of food, some getting cold. As other people have stated, the sushi was ok, the edamame blah, but the teriyaki items were very overdone. Like they were pre-prepared and warmed for serving. Then after we finished all this food, inexplicably we waited 15 minutes after our last plate was removed to get the dessert that came with the dinner. And we had put our dessert choices in with the...
