The Inception and the Legacy
Seventy-five years ago, in 1940,brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald opened up the first McDonald’s restaurant—a BBQ joint—in San Bernardino, California (at left; it’s now a museum). Eight years later, they switched to burgers, shakes, potato chips, and pie. The McDonalds purchased several Multi-mixers for use in their establishment, and when Multi-mixer salesman Ray Kroc visited, he was impressed by their success and efficiency. Kroc purchased franchise rights from the brothers. In 1955, he opened his first franchise in Des Plaines, Illinois. Looking for more McDonald’s facts? This is the first McDonald’s menu ever. McDonald’s first drive-thru opened in 1975 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. What inspired the then-revolutionary concept? Read moreThe drive thru wait is never less than 10 minutes. If you're in a rush, I would suggest jack in the box. While McDonald's takes their sweet time getting you out of the line jack will push through 3-4 customers to McDonald's 1 customer. Also, if McDonald's is busy and out of a certain product you my friend will be stuck in that line of hell until you are able to get through, if its busy you could be there for 20-30 minutes. I waited 15 minutes to be told they didn't have what I wanted. The machine is broken. Luckily the people behind me got tired of waiting and left so I was able to back out of the drive thru line, if not I would have been stuck for at least another 20 minutes. I understand that this is the only McDonald's with a drive thru, McDonald's has one in Wal-Mart across the street but who the hell wants to go through the hell that is Wal-Mart to go to their McDonald's? Ice worked in fast food. Time to get food out through the drive thru is 30 seconds or less, I suggest adding minutes rather than seconds. Time wait 30 minutes if busy 15 minutes if its not busy. But I hate this McDonald's. I hate being trapped in a...
Read more45 minutes not one person came to clean up sitting areas. Service and cleanliness were terrible. Families are clearing tables to sit. Store is not even busy enough not to stand around and laugh and loudly talk about person life matters. Manager doesn't care to act like she was concerned that I had no where to sit. Even after I asked to clean off a table for our family to sit she stood against the coffee machine area and just crossed her arms. 5 minutes after getting our food was a table finally cleared by a girl who wiped the chairs before our table. How unsanitary. After eating I was disgusted at how most tables were filthy and never saw a person come sweep all the food on the floor. Most employees were just talking and laughing near the drive through window. Somebody needs fix this. It's getting worse and worse through the months. Also unable to find how trash cans can be so disgusting. One bag of trash was changed during my visit. As you can tell she thought it to disgusting to even close the door. What...
