Don't expect to receive a cake if you reserve it at this location! Called this location in the morning to see if they had a Lemon Cake available for my boyfriend's birthday. The manager, Natalie, confirmed it was available. I promptly placed a mobile order in the app right after the call to pay and reserve the cake. When we arrived to the Concord location to pick up the cake, the man we spoke to at the register seemed uneasy after we told him we were here to pick up the Lemon Cake we had placed an order for. He grabbed the manager, Natalie, and she went with him to the back to double check for the order. Natalie confirmed they sold the cake to someone else before we arrived. I'd also like to note that she was laughing when she told us they sold the cake to someone else, and said this had happened several times before. What I don't understand is that if it has happened before, then why were there not improvements made amongst your team's communication to correct this? There was no responsibility taken either, instead blaming your workers for not putting it aside. As the manager, why don't you take 1-2 minutes to double check and ensure orders are placed aside, ESPECIALLY if you're aware it's happened multiple times? The back fridge is maybe 6 steps away from the front of cake display.
I purchased a lovely cake from Tous les Jours instead. I would recommend them as their customer service is considerably better. They provide candles, matches, and a cake slicer in addition to the happy birthday chocolate.
I have not received my refund either for the cake and this...
Read moreVery excited to get one in Concord, as we've been driving to Livermore just to get some. So we went at the very first day they opened. This location is new, and people are just finding it, so the lines are long. When we went around 2PM on a Sunday, there were at least 15 ahead of us. Quality of bakery is same as Livermore's, clean and tidy. Overall good, except for some minor things here and there:
No dine-in as of this review. Incorrect labels. We purchased chocolate cookies only to find out they were oatmeal once we got home. "Chocolate croissants" that were obviously not. At the time, everyone was busy, no one to quickly ask questions to. The long line for paying is right in the same aisle where the food and shelves/racks are, so you have people walking all over. It's hard to know who's on the line to pay or who's still browsing. Incorrect menu/pricing placement. It's at the top and glare of the sun makes it hard to read the monitors. Not a single chair. At the time we went, a lot of empty shelves, waiting to be filled
Overall, it's a good addition to our area. We don't need to drive far any more. Only time will tell if they can improve, and I will updatr the review then. Minor things, but they add up.. hence 4 stars.
Food is tasty, same quality as their other stores. Roughly same size, same sweetness, etc. So this one is just as consistent...
Read moreI am a sweet-a-holic 😋and sweet breads and pastries are at the top of that list. 85°C Bakery Cafe is one of my favorite spots to visit when I want something with the perfect balance of sweet and bread. I usually get at least one item that I'm already familiar with and one new item to try out. The pastries are reasonably priced from $2+ and plenty of options to choose from. They have a variety of traditional flavors such as strawberry and chocolate, as well as exotic flavors such as mango and ube. They also have breads with meat and cheese. My choices today were the mango-pineapple pastry, chocolate croissant, cinnamon twist, and sugar cream cheese pastry. The mango-pineapple has a flaky crust, similar to a puff pastry, and fruit filling. The chocolate croissant has a layer of semi-sweet chocolate in the inside. I put this one to the side so that I could warm it up later and melt the chocolate. The cinnamon twist has a flaky crust with cinnamon and sugar between the folds and outside, hardened during the baking process. The sugar cream cheese is a soft bread with delicious cream cheese pockets. I also ordered a Thai Tea light ice which is pretty good from here (*Side note: Torsap Thai Kitchen has THE BEST Thai Tea). The items are fresh and well worth the extra calories...
