Worst cake and customer experience I’ve ever had. I got a birthday cake and wanted it red velvet heart shaped, and I was told they can’t do red velvet in a heart which I thought was weird so I settled on chocolate. Let’s start off with the fact that the cake was ugly, but whatever cake is cake and it’ll still taste the same. This cake was so horrible, the frosting tasted like sweet food dye, the chocolate cake didn’t taste like chocolate, it was sweet but had no flavor on top of the fact that it was dry and had a very weird texture like biting into a dish sponge. When I picked up the cake I asked if we could fix the cake because it’s ugly and I was told there’s no cake decorators there and I would have to come back tomorrow with the cake to have it fixed or a manager could call me the next day. I said I wanted a manager to call me and when I got home I decided it was fine because it’ll still taste the same. When I cut open this cake and served it NO ONE and I mean NO ONE would eat it. They took one bite and all told me I need to take the cake back because it’s gross. So I waited the next day for a managers call and they never called so I called the morning after that. I was told their managers are on vacation and then another employee told me they had a family emergency and were out of town for the weekend and would return Monday. Monday comes and I call to get this resolved and I’m told the owners won’t be back for 2 and a half weeks. The employees are extremely dismissive and I feel like I keep getting the run around so ill eventually forget about it and they won’t have to do anything. This is a $75 cake we’re talking about here! I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service, and the way this situation is being handled, on top of the...

The ONLY thing that I would recomend to anyone ordering a wedding cake is to definitely know what you want when you order, try to avoid a busy day (go before 4:30pm during the week) and I would recomend calling ahead of time and finding out when they have their cake specialists working so that you can go during those hours to order your wedding cake. Not everyone there is a cake specialist which I totally understand, and if they are very busy they very nicely let you know when is a better time to come back to make your cake order so that way they can ensure to fully understand how you want your cake and so they can get your order correct.
However, our wedding cake was EXACTLY what my husband and I wanted. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of my own cake yet or I would show it. It was a three tier buttercream cake with the bottom tiers having a curtain design in lavender, I had a light colored fondant bow on the 2nd tier, and the top tier had the love verse written on it in lavender with a precious moments cake topper. It was perfect. we had vanilla cake with vanilla custord filling for the top and bottom tier. It was SO good. We had the middle tier red velvelt which people loved. Everyone complimented the cake for how it looked and for how good it tasted. The pricing is resonable, even though I got a fondant bow, the lady who took my cake order ( I believe her name is Gigi, someone please correct me if I'm wrong) worked with me as far as pricing and helped recomend what helps make the cake look good and taste good. She is SO sweet, just as everyone who works there. They are all so helpful and sweet. I would definitely recomend them for a cake for any occasion.
Also, their princess cakes...
Read moreI’ve used Apline for my custom wedding cake, custom birthday cakes and anytime I’m feeling something sweet when in Concord (I come from Pittsburg) and have recommended Apline’s business to others which they’ve purchased their event cakes and cupcakes from. I was also planning on ordering my baby shower cake from them come this July.
Today, I bought a pre-made Mother’s Day cake and a champagne cupcake, cupcake for myself for the drive home (because I’ve always wanted to try their champagne cake) and when walking out accidentally dropped just the cupcake out in the front parking lot as I wasn’t offered a bag. No big deal right? I went back in to see if I could possibly have it replaced as I told them I dropped it and the girl told me I’d have to pay another $3.00 for a new one. WTF where’s the customer service for a loyal customer?
What I recommend now, to all that are reading this review is to try a more local small business who’s getting their feet off the ground and doesn’t necessarily have a store front yet or even Safeway close to home. I won’t be coming...
