We are new to the area and still exploring, and had dinner here Thursday night. We wanted to try one of the restaurants on the lake, and my husband picked Monty’s for cajun seafood. We joined the waiting list online, and were seated on arrival around 6:45p. While we were browsing the menu, our server informed us of the specials. As soon as she said it was unlimited crab legs night, we both knew this was our choice! I didn’t even realize places were still doing this. We ordered the jalapeño crab queso for starters, and while delicious, we ate so much dinner we didn’t need the queso lol. The queso was served in a large skillet topped with fresh crab meat and avocado slices. The flavors were prominent and present in every bite - so good! The chips were thick and fresh. They were good, but I prefer my tortilla chips a bit thinner. Either way, we’ll definitely order this again.
For $45.99, they bring out your first portion in a bag seasoned with a red potato, small ear of corn, and a cup of butter. Probably 1.5-2lbs initial portion. Crab legs were only served from 6-8p, and apparently is part of a rotating Thursday night special, and we were concerned the service would be slow and that we wouldn’t get many crab legs. We were so wrong!! The place was packed, the kitchen was putting out plates crazy fast, and every single server was running around like they had somewhere to be. And they did, they were bringing people crab legs. After our initial serving we had 3-4 more servings each of 2-3 crab clusters. There were varying levels of cajun seasoning, at some times a bit spicy. But the iced tea was fresh and our server kept our glasses full. The tea was actually delicious, you could tell it was fresh brewed, a bit strong (which I prefer!), but still sweet. So good. We ate all the way up until 8, lol, and left very full, with no room for dessert. We had such a good experience and can’t wait to go back and try their...
Read moreI’ve been to Monty’s before and raved about it. I was excited to share with my boyfriend and family for Mother’s Day. We had a newer server, but she was nice and just asked coworkers if she didn’t have an answer. We started off with the baked oyster trio and two out of the half dozen had pieces of shell we had to fish back out of our mouths. Next my older son’s meal was delivered. On its own with the others not following behind. I had him go ahead and start eating because we were seated outside and it was 8pm windy and would get cold quick. After 5 min 3 more meals arrive but not my 12 yr old who’s the youngest at the table. Again we need to start eating or the food would be cold. We share our plates with him and left wondering where his food is. Another server asks if we are good and I say he never got his food. Turns out his plate was dropped and they were remaking it, but I server never bothered to let us know. After everyone is literally over halfway through our plates his comes. She says she will comp drinks for the mishap. Finally she offered us the red velvet cheesecake. Sounds great we order 2… oh wait, we ran out. What a disappointment. To finalize our visit, we get the bill. We ordered 3 waters, 1 Dr Pepper, and two alcoholic beverages. She took off the Dr pepper. Yes, 1 Dr Pepper. I would’ve been happy if she at least comped his KIDS cheeseburger meal. The food was good besides the shells, but what an awful experience. The adults and older kids made to feel guilty while my youngest is hungry and left out, offered something no longer available, and only comped 1 Dr Pepper. If this was my first impression, I would...
Read moreI went 6/21/24 the location is beautiful. We sat on the patio for a late lunch/ early dinner. The location was not packed. I had high hopes. I drove 2 hours to meat family. We are from southeast Texas close to Louisiana and the food does not have a Cajun taste to it. Many of the plates that were ordered were bland. The best was the voodoo shrimp. Our waiter seemed nice at first but at one point I was trying to ask one question about the toppings and he responded with I am not trying to rush you however I have 4 tables inside that are waiting for me. The food came and it was not hot. He did one refill on a soda but ignored the empty waters. We paid and started to walk to the doors and I remembered my keys went back to the table and they were gone. I asked the to bus boys and both said no. I the. Asked a waiter ( I could not locate mine) and 4 hostess. All stated that no keys were found after supposedly talking to managers. I asked one of the host again if he could look that it might be possible they were collected with the napkins. Approximately 30 min later he came from the back with my keys. We where chatting outside the restaurant while I was canceling roadside assistance and they came out with a phone. I am just confused how my keys were o. The table the bus boys did not see/ find them and how no one informed anyone that keys were with some hidden manager at the location. I feel that places should have a designated...
