My Night at Red Brick Tavern (Conroe)
Amazing Atmosphere & Patio (A+)
Red Brick Tavern easily earns top marks for its vibrant, Texas‑bar ambiance. The exposed brick and rustic wood in the interior echo that authentic tavern charm, but the sprawling, covered patio is undoubtedly its standout feature. Fans and string lights kept things cool and inviting, even on a hot summer evening. The venue—buzzing with locals, visitors, couples, and families earlier in the evening—felt lively and welcoming throughout. Live music added flair without overpowering conversation, especially if you're seated toward the back. Its energy really captures the essence of Conroe nightlife.
Friendly, Efficient Service (A+)
Service staff were attentive and handled a busy evening like pros—drinks arrived quickly, and refills came without prompting. Many online visitors praise the service team and cozy feel, noting the bar staff work in sync and maintain pace even during packed nights .
Others especially appreciate the gluten‑free offerings and personalized support for dietary needs—something not often highlighted at lively taverns .
Food: Solid Comfort Fare with Standouts (A-)
Burgers and fried pickles as average, Red Brick Tavern serves more than “standard pub grub”. Cheese pizza with a tasty kick, pulled‑pork nachos, wings, and pasta dishes as flavorful and worth ordering . Rotating craft beers pair well with menu items like Bob Marley pizza and pulled‑pork enchiladas, which some users found surprisingly good .
In short: while burgers can be hit-or-miss, other options (pizza, sandwiches, wings, enchiladas) earn frequent praise.
What Could Improve (Minor Issues)
Parking downtown Conroe can be challenging on weekend evenings. Dedicated spots fill quickly—plan ahead or consider nearby public lots. And yes, it gets loud once the band hits full volume. That intensity is part of the charm, but not ideal for low‑key conversation.
Verdict
Red Brick Tavern in Conroe really shines as an immersive downtown hangout—a quintessential Texas tavern experience boasting great atmosphere, live music, cold drinks, and an expansive covered patio perfect for groups or solo vibes.
Service is solid and friendly.
Food, though not gourmet, includes several well-crafted dishes that regularly delight online reviewers—especially pizzas, wings, nachos, and pulled-pork tunes.
Drinks—notably craft beers and cocktails—get consistent kudos.
Bottom Line:
A top-tier spot in Conroe for cold drinks, live music, and fun on the patio—with several standout food options that go beyond...
Read moreI came to this establishment Monday evening (around 6–7 PM), unsure of what to expect. The online ratings gave me some hope, and to be fair, the food didn’t disappoint—I had the Tejano burger, a tasty Caesar salad with capers and croutons, and cheesy queso with pork.
The real issue was the service. From the start, the waiter gave off a dismissive vibe. When a man at our table had a question, the server either didn’t notice or ignored him. I tried to get the waiter’s attention, and he responded plainly : “I’m not taking any questions right now.” We moved on, and he never checked up on any questions after that.
During drink orders, things got worse. He turned away twice from a woman in our group who hadn’t finished ordering. She likes her drinks a specific way—ice in one glass, lemons on the side, and unsweetened tea. His behavior felt dismissive and upsetting. I kept trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it became harder each time.
When it came time for appetizers, we gave our order quickly. I hadn’t realized that most of my group had already ordered their entrees as well, since we were seated at separate tables. So when I told the server I wasn’t ready to order mine yet, he looked at me in disbelief and said, “Oh okay… um,” before walking away. It felt like I couldn’t even take a moment to decide without being met with attitude. At that point, I was hesitant to ask him for anything else.
Eventually, the appetizers and entrees arrived, and plates began stacking up on the already small table. I politely asked if he could take the extras we had set aside. To my surprise, he snapped, “I was already doing that.” That was the final straw for me.
The music was nice, and the atmosphere was okay. It wasn’t the food, the small space, or even the awkward stares we got when we walked in that bothered me—it was that my initial bad feeling turned out to be right. Our server was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in professionalism. I watched him treat other tables with noticeably more patience and kindness than we received.
I’ve never felt so disrespected in a restaurant that I felt compelled to leave a review—but here we are. I will not be...

They gave me a piece of garlic bread on the side no cheese. The pulled pork sandwich tastes WAAAYYY different and less fresh than it did just about a year or so ago, and the fries are just pure salt as well as my sisters burger she said its like they spilled salt on it and just did nothing about it, said mcdonalds dollar menu has a better cheeseburger now than here. Sad to see a business start cutting corners, cutting portions and cutting quality. Used to be fresh and flavorful with good portions. Not so much anymore. I also ate inside the establishment not too long ago and the meatloaf was rock hard and over cooked. Tried to give benefit of the doubt but this showed me that it has infact gone downhill. The day we ate inside my sister only had 3 small shrimp in her pasta and barely any sauce on it. We are beyond shocked. Used to love this place. It used to be so awesome
The food is always really good with great staff but the prices are still a little up there in my opinion. I will say though they have really great food and original options like their famous recipes and specialty draft beer selections with live music, the staff is also very friendly and their French onion soup when I'm sick is always the best. Best French onion I've ever had. Really great food and ive tried many many things here, even items they no longer have like the flat iron steak etc. Its all really good but some prices are high I feel for the portion and what you are getting. I mean many other places have similar stuff for cheaper. Again this is my opinion. Price is only downfall with certain things. Other stuffs priced accordingly however. Some options are just high for what you get. And I eat out at least three times a week at nice sit down restaurants so believe me I'm not a tight wad or someone lacking knowledge I still come here frequently for the good food and pay the extra time to time because the flavors are great! Overall a great place with...
