We decided to make our way to Sacramento for the evening on Sunday 12/26 to visit family so of course we had to stop and grab some sushi for dinner!
I've had Arigato multiple times since we use to live in Arden about 2 years ago. So it for sure was on of our favorite spots to grab a couple of rolls, this just being my first time to review it. This place is always packed, I called and they said a 40 min wait but thankfully when we arrived it was only a 25 min estimated wait time. We I let ended up waiting 23 for a group off 5. Lemme just start by saying the staff is super attentive and friendly and welcoming and move through the rush well.
We got seated at our table and the waitress. Quickly made her way to us. We ordered our drinks and after they arrived I placed our sushi order.
The way we do sushi in my family is everyone let's me choose what we are gonna eat and how many rolls get thrown on the table depending how hungry we are. Let's just say today was a very hungry evening.
I ordered . 4 miso soup Deep fried goyosa Edamame with Salt Beef teriyaki with soup and salad Red dragon Spicy crunch Lion king Golden califonia Fire fly x2 Aloha 911 Rainbow Tear drop roll x2 Lucky 7 x2
Can I just say this was by the best sushi we've had at Arigato in a long time! Everything was so delicious and flavorful and the presentation was great. I love when sushi restaurants place sushi rolls on a big board with multiple rolls instead of singular plates. keeps the table more open and room too move and reach around to the food. Our favorite rolls of the Night were the Fire fly, Tear Drop and Lucky 7. We had originally ordered 10 and once they came we ate them in about 15 mins so I order another three rolls.
When we arrived it was a but busy but the servers work quick and are attentive, once we ate our first 10 rolls and it was around 7pm the place got super busy but we were constanly checked up on with water and soda refills. we definitely will be returning.
The only reason this place wasn't rated a 4 stars for our most recent visit was because they clearly have written all over there establishment that they will not be providing service or allowing entry to the restaurant if there is no mask present on the customer. There was about 15 people crammed in the front waiting room that were talking load all with out masks. Don't even advertise that if you aren't going to enforce you're...
Read moreQuality: Hit and miss, overall not incredibly consistent. My wife thought her rolls were okay (Lion King). I didn't really like the tempura roll I got, they didn'tcut the tails off the inside pieces so every other bite I was picking shrimp tails out of my mouth. The rice was good but the Teriyaki chicken was dry and a little over cooked.
Service: Our food was ready quite fast, within 10-15 minutes which is good. However, they forgot the two sides of spicy mayo, they packed the edamame poorly so it leaked all over the bag, and there was almost no Teriyaki sauce on both orders of Teriyaki chicken which made them very dry and the charred edges stand out more than they should have. Also worth noting the last time I went here before this I had to go back because they forgot my food, do 1/4 of my order was missing.
Atmosphere: I've dined in here before but didn't this time. It's okay, I don't want to trash talk it, but it's not a very warm environment. It seems like it was a more modern/sleek atmosphere when it was new but now seems older and a little dingy.
Price: Some of their prices are pretty fair while others don't make a lot of sense. This is also the only place I've gone where when you order Teriyaki Chicken, you get the chicken only on some lettuce/cabbage, not even rice with it. Their rolls were decently priced but the tempura was too much so I took it off this order. We got modest food for me, my wife, and two kids. The bill was just over $85. I ended up getting McDonald's too because my wife was the only one of us that got enough to eat. So a bit over $21 per person (including 2 kids) and 3 of us were still hungry.
Overall: It was fair. I wouldn't have too high of expectations but it's not bad either. We got too much rice because the last time I added rice to my Teriyaki chicken, I got what looked like a small ice cream scoop of rice. So I ordered 2 per this time and each side was 2-3 times what they gave me last time, so 1 each would have been plenty.
I will likely order here again as they are open later than most other places nearby. I just need to figure out exactly what to order here and remember to check my food, not count on it all being there or...
Read moreWent on my sister's grad night to celebrate. Waiter spilled a tray of about 4 ice cold waters directly onto my nana (grandmother) and didn't even apologize. After getting her cleaned up we ordered drinks. My nana and aunt ordered mojitos but they were horrible. I'm a bartender of many years and I've never tasted anything like that, that was supposed to have been a mojito. I was actually confused. There was all of what seemed to be 2 servers in the entire restaurant during a dinner rush so our food and drinks took forever to come. Items we asked for were forgotten several times. Simple things like more napkins, water refills, and condiments had to be reminded over and over after asking. The server never communicated or apologized the entire time. Didn't say anything about the long waits or poor service. The other server had to help us several times. We waited at least 5 to 10 minutes every time we needed to order, refills, anything even small requests. At the end of our meal we sat talking forever, about 15 minutes, trying to see if our server would come back and trying to get the other server to close us out. When the other server finally arrived, we explained our experience with the horrible service and asked for the MANAGER. She immediately said there is no manager!! Excuse me?! No manager at a full service restaurant with a bar?? Ok I let it go. After continuing our complaint to her all she had to say was "oh okay" and in response to my grandma getting a bunch of waters dropped directly on her she said, "You're okay, you're fine." Extremely disrespectful and poor customer service. All she had to do was say wow I'm so sorry that happened, thank you for being so patient or ANYTHING but instead she chose to be rude and brush off our concerns. Her responses were the last straw, totally uncalled for. I'm a bartender and server and I've never spoken to or treated anyone like she treated us. She treated us like we didn't matter and it was obvious she just didn't care. Absolutely disgraceful service. I understand accidents happen and we made no issue of the waters being spilled on my grandma; but the customer service was an entirely different...
