This was my first visit and probably my last. Let me get the negative stuff out of the way. When you place your order, make sure to have your server read back what you are getting. Today we ordered the Morgan City Combo. I asked for fried crawfish and shrimp. Before the order was placed, I went to our server and said I needed the shrimp to be blackened instead of fried. She then came back a bit later and said they cannot do half blackened and half fried, and that we had to choose either all fried or all blackened. So we selected all fried. Well when the food came out we were given fried catfish and shrimp. We pointed out that it should not of been catfish because we ordered crawfish. The server said in a very rude manner, “Well, that is what you ordered.” When I told her again in a very nice and confused way that I did not think that we ordered catfish she said well I will see if the kitchen will give you crawfish after this was already made. Fifteen minutes later we had not heard what the outcome was, so we had to ask. She said that they said since the order had already came out they could not take it back. We pointed out again that we did not order catfish. She said well I don’t know who made the mistake because I have down on my note pad CRAWFISH and shrimp but when I came back about the fried issue I thought y’all changed it to catfish. We told her that we never discussed that and the conversation was only about making it all fried. She said if we wanted crawfish she could put in an à la cart order and it will be an about additional $6 in a very rude tone. We told her no thanks we are not going to spend more money. The interaction with her was so bad that the people at our table commented about her very rude tone and attitude. We did not want to make it a big deal as we were there with family for a special day, so we just let it go. As for the food, it was ok. The fried catfish (that we did not actually want) did not have any flavor to it. I would recommend the blackened catfish and add a little salt (we had also order the catfish meal blackened), the gumbo was ok but would not get again. The shrimp, blackened catfish, red beans and rice, fries, and ranch were really good and would get again. I will have to think about whether or not I will come here again. Also to top it all off they added an automatic gratuity on the check because of our party size, and that is when I realized that is why she did not care about how she treated us. I would have left a 15% - 20% tip either way because I do not agree with the small amount servers get paid as I was one in the past. But the moment she collected the money (she dropped off the checks early early) she was gone and we never saw her again. Overall, we paid $75 for two meals, side of gumbo, and one soda, including tip. We did not feel that we got our...
Read moreWe came into Houston for a quick visit before heading back to College Station. My wife really wanted Cajun food and our options back home are very limited. My dad recommended Floyd's to us, the prices were great and the dishes looked amazing. We came in and it was very quiet, 3 tables in the main dining, 1 big top in the bar, and a table outside. We overheard one of the waitress say they were short staffed with 3 servers and bussers helping out, we both spent over a decade in the industry so we understand and pretty relaxed. Our server Jordan greeted us nicely and eventually we got the DZ Grilled Oysters Lafayette, Seafood Fondue, and a hurricane for the lady. The oysters came out very hot and they were so delicious! My wife is not a huge oyster person and i convinced her to try some and she destroyed half the plate. Jordan came by for her 2 bite check up and told us she's getting the drink and fondue should be out shortly. The fondue and drink took nearly 40 mins. The manager brought out the fondue and said nothing, it wasn't hot but the flavor was good, the bread served with it was good too. When the server came back with the hurricane I told her I would take a hurricane and then we will order when she gets back, we watched her go to 2 tables next to each other several times and not pay us any mind, at this point I was kind of bothered, the place was dead and there wasn't any sense of urgency from the staff. There was a man with his family who was mouthy and being very obnoxious to the server, in which I thought may have been linked to the possible frustration. We were ready to order for a while and at this time we have been there for over an 1.5 hrs (seeing our server 3 times) I flagged her down and she had not placed my drink order to the bar so we requested the check and they offered to take $3 off the fondue since they had to remake it (in which communication during the issue would have been beneficial). Off nights happen, we understand, but as far as service goes, it was pretty bad. I gave the food a good rating because for what we had, it was good, sure the fondue wasn't piping hot but the flavor was good. Hopefully, I can convince my wife to try it again because as I said before, off nights happen. We really want to the try the Redfish Evangeline, Blackened Snapper Pontchartrain, and some...
Read moreYou know I'm amazed at the number of stars that are currently under Floyd's (at the time I'm writing this review 3/7/25). Just 3 stars?! With just 3 stars then it's clear that there are those that have zero idea on how to make your Floyd's experience a 5 star visit like mine. So here it goes.
First, always sit at the bar. I don't know what it is but the bartenders at Floyd's give the best service experience versus the wait staff. There are bartenders there who have actually been with Floyd's even before it was Floyd's. How so? Because before Floyd's, it was Lucky's Pub and the bartenders that they kept have that passion for that location. Which means as I always say, you cannot train passion.
Second, the a-la-cart deals are the better options. They have some very good shrimp and fish at Floyd's and you can order them a-la-cart. For me I usually get 12 fried shrimp and 2 catfish fillets. I don't get any sides. Not needed for me. I'm always satisfied with that option. Always perfect everytime and I'm a seafood lover by heart so I take my shrimpy's seriously. (Crossing my arms and standing like the Terminator)
Third, the Hurricane. You must at always order their standard hurricane. It's hands down the best hurricane you can find in Houston. Period. Just make sure it's made by the same old school bartenders who have been there for years. It's consistent and the very best you can get.
Forth and final; crawfish. If it's crawfish season always order those babies extra spicy. Now for the none spicy heads it's not really that spicy but it is more seasoning. And even better now as they have a new flavor that is absolutely Sucking Good! I'm specifically talking about that Eddie D Sauced version. I've posted a pic of it on the menu so you can read what's in it and I highly recommend that version. Yeah, sucking good indeed. And I know no one who doesn't like a good suck, so take my word.
You gotta suck the heads,...
