Mott Canyon Tavern & Grill — Restaurant in South Lake Tahoe

Today was the first time we've checked this place out and we're never going back again. My friend, my girlfriend and I decided to check this place out after our hike.

My buddy ordered 2 drinks, and a meal and my girlfriend and I ordered 1 appetizer and 2 drinks to share. Every time the server brought our food or drink, she never asked if we needed anything else or followed up with us; we always had to flag her down because she would always instantly walk away after she dropped off our food or drinks. We understood it was busy so no big deal, it's fine.

Fast forward, we asked our server if we could get our checks and she responded "so you're splitting the check?" My buddy said "yes, I'm by myself and those two will be together" and she responded with "next time you want to split your check you need to tell your server beforehand" in the most condescending tone and walked away. We were extremely surprise to hear that; even the people sitting around us were astonished. We were seated for 45 minutes tops and didn't ask for more than a couple of drinks, an appetizer and a taco. You would think if she had more experience she would just ask us if we wanted to split check to begin with because it was blatantly obvious that my friend was third wheeling. It seemed as if she didn't want to give us the time of day.

She came back within less than 60 seconds with our check, and I asked her "how hard was it to split the check?" She responded "not hard, but had your order been complicated it would've been." Which makes us wonder why she felt the need to make such a rude remark. Given our experience in the restaurant industry, we would never ask to split a check if we thought it would be difficult; our order was very basic and minimal. The server made an unnecessary, rude comment based off a hypothetical situation.

We always leave 25-30% tip on average and even 15% for bad service minimum. The same morning I left a $6 tip on a $5 bagel I had for breakfast elsewhere. She was so rude about splitting the check that she is now the first person I've ever stiffed in my life.

Never in my life have I ever felt the need to leave a bad review for bad service until now. I assume the other staff members are probably nice given the other reviews I've read; however, this is our experience that we felt the need to...

We showed up and the first thing they said is we don’t serve kids here. Which I totally understand because my cousin does look young, however he is over age. We told him we do have our IDs. He then told us “ I don’t feel comfortable with your dog in here. I know it says service dog, but we had someone get attacked by a service dog not too long ago. Unfortunately I understand that could have happened, but there is no reason why I am treated differently based on another customers dog. I told him due to denying my service dog we could file a lawsuit. He did not like that and then screamed at us telling us to get out and find a new place to eat. We then left.

We ordered a pizza to go. I was told to pick it in 15 minutes. Arrived in 15 minutes, had cash plus a tip. Quietly went to the end of the bar, there sat our pizza. There were maybe ten people in the place, mostly at the bar. The girl there flirted and chatted, answered the phone giggling, then was thumbing through some sort of boxes, and more chatting. Never served a single drink. Completely ignored me except for one time saying "be right there." Then went to the computer or cash register, pizza is getting ice cold.
