Now that I know what a real 5-star restaurant is like, I may have to adjust some other reviews downward. Capital Grille is above and beyond. It's not just a fancy atmosphere and dressed-up staff, they make sure you leave feeling like the food was worth it. Our waiter, Miguel, was fast and friendly, comfortable chatting, and stayed on top of everything. He was quick to make spot-on suggestions when we were trying to decide what to get. And he handled some mildly fussy requests with cheerful professionalism. The food is unreal, and makes you realize how badly other places prepare their meats. The steak au poivre was coated in a delicious layer of peppercorns, you can taste distinct flavors. The juicy center and courvoisier cream tones it down, so you don't feel overwhelmed with spice. My friend's had a filet mignon with the kind of soft, perfect texture that makes you understand why this is the stereotypical 'luxury food'. The temperature for both dishes was absolutely perfect. I noticed the kitchen staff seemed chatty and unstressed even when the place filled up. They're clearly good at what they do. We were convinced to try the smoked bacon with tomato jam. If you've got an odd mental image of breakfast bacon with red jelly, scrap that. The description doesn't do it justice. These are thick bites of ham, with a flavorful and smoky seared outside, and the jam is more like a tomato puree, but only a thin layer. It adds a mild tart sweetness to cut through the saltiness of the ham. The dessert was very good, it seems like everyone's already recommended the coconut pie. What I appreciate about this place is that they nail all the little details, not just the obvious stuff. The pre-dinner bread is varied and delicious on its own. The knives are solid and weighted perfectly to cut through a thick steak. The restroom stalls are perfectly clean and sealed behind heavy doors with indicators so you know they're occupied. When there's a birthday, they prepare a nice little card and bring out a dessert, but no tacky singing or candles. I really can't think of a bad thing to say. Right now the place is so new, you can almost smell sawdust. I hope they keep this high standard for years to come.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T GO HERE. I decided to take my dad here for his birthday. And it was a huge mistake. Horrible experience. Service was slow, not very attentive. The waitress was clumsy she spilled the food everywhere on the table. I ordered sparkling water, but the waiter served regular water and we just decided to stick with that. Meh service. And the, the food... My dad ordered The $70 steak and it was the worst steak I have ever seen, not even at the cheap restaurants that charge $30. It was BURNED. Not charred. BURNED and flavorless. At first I convinced him that might be the rub or the sauce. But after I tried a piece, it was definitely burned. And there was no side included. So $70 is just for the burned steak. Please looked at the pic I attached. He sliced out half for my mom. And she couldn't eat either. He didn't want me to complain and tried to finish it, but I didn't want my Dad to eat charcoal as his birthday gift. So I complained to the manager, he took it out of the check, bribed us with 3 free dessert dishes. They were too sweet so we just packed them all. My veal chop was ok. Nothing amazing. At this kind of price I'd expect something "WOW" or "OMG". Everything else was just ok. So basically you come here and pay for the ambiance and to impress everyone that you have a lot of money. That's all. The food is painfully overpriced and mediocre. the service needs to be improved in order to trick more people into thinking this is a fancy restaurant. So. It was a waste of money, waste of time, waste of the extra calories my body had to burn, and even waste of 2 sprays of my expensive perfume that I save for real special occasion. Fortunately, we will have a real birthday party with real good food for my Dad at home this weekend. A nice suggestion: change the restaurant's name to "The capital Burne". It fits better.

I dined here on Saturday at 5 PM and it was one of the most incredible dining experiences I have ever had! The hostess (dangit, i forgot her name!!) that sat me at one of the tables near the bar was extremely nice and accommodating and she made me feel like i was being taken care of from the very moment I arrived at the restaurant! My server, who also worked the large customer base at the bar, was easily the best server I've ever had. Her name was Amber and was extremely knowledgeable of the whole menu and literally came over every 5-10 minutes to make sure everything was going smoothly with my meal. That kind of care and attentiveness can't be taught and she should be highly commended for her amazing effort and attention to detail in every aspect of what she does - she was absolutely amazing! Ok, on to the meal :) The three bourbon cocktails they have are absolutely amazing and Highly recommended. From the In Fashion, to the Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar to the Double Barrel Manhattan - all the of the drinks were perfectly balanced and two of them included my favorite Bourbon (Woodford Reserve). I started off the meal with half a dozen oysters on the half shell, which were super fresh and briny & the perfect way to begin dinner. Amber suggested the Kona Crusted Dry Aged NY Strip, which was SOOOO GOOOD! It came with a shallot butter that was the perfect accompaniment & along with that, I ordered the side of wild roasted mushrooms. To end the meal, i went with the espresso chocolate cake which was so rich and decadent. I almost overdosed on chocolate :) and the bitterness of the espresso helped balance the desert perfectly!! If you want to be treated like a royalty while enjoying a meal fit for a king (or a queen!), look no further - Capital Grille is the place to go!!

What a nice restaurant. We went here for a special birthday celebration. We got the porcini bone in ribeye with 15 year aged balsamic. The texture was perfect, juicy and tender, and delicious! The espresso martini is very good here. My favorite is the lobster salad which is a delicious light salad with fresh lobster in the salad with grape tomatoes, avocado, arugula, bits of orange. It has a great balance of citrus and slight sweetness but incredibly tasty. I highly recommend a lobster salad. They only offer it during lunch hours so coming here during the weekdays for lunch. Another great lunch option is the ribeye steak sandwich. The sandwich it's loaded with really high grade ribeye steak with cheese on it. The fries can be truffle parmesan fries or plain. My other recommendation is the $28 plate which comes with a soup and an entree. We got the French onion soup and it is absolutely delicious, not too salty and the cheese it's melted perfectly on top of the onion soup. Their steak and frites comes with chimichurri sauce which is absolutely the best chimichurri sauce I have had. Lots of chopped onions as well as garlic in the sauce and quite tangy. It works really well with the tenderloin steak. This is absolutely delicious and portion is just right for lunch. The salmon with avocado and mango is light and the salmon is done to perfection with a nice grilled taste. We came back multiple times , but today we had the pleasure of being served by Jacqueline who was attentive and came to refill our coffee right when it was out. She was very attentive and one of the best servers we have had at capital grill other restaurants!

Situated off a short surburban strip-mall and off the main entertainment centers, Fairfax Corner and Fair Oaks Mall, stands the ultra-high-end dry-aged prime steakhouse. Capital Grille seems like an awkward outcast from the other prime steakhouses like Ruth Chris but this only seems to be a good thing. While I know the science of dry-aging and cooking premium steaks has been demystified where one cook prime steaks of similar quality at home, Capital Grille does seem to fill a convenient special occasion niche ...... the neighborhood restaurant for the most special events. The service at Capitgal Grille makes you feel like you are dining out at a generational family restaurant. Now the classic prime aged new year strip is the prize entree to order along with calamari and cream spinach side. For all the "prime" and "premium" that is supposed to ooze from the dining experience, the use of rapid-melt-chipped ice dissapoints the most and will drown out any flavors in your $$$$ cocktail - so unless Capital Grille start using premium ice balls or better quality ice, I recommend you pass on all cocktails and focus on the food. Just remember that not all steaks are dry-aged at Capital Grille. And unlike other high-end restaurant chains these days, the complimentary birthday dessert (and it was a good sized one too) paired with a proper glass of sparkling wine is an offering that makes me feel like celebrating all future special occasions at Capital Grille.

We celebrated our anniversary here on Friday and it was beyond our expectations. We had to wait some time after our scheduled reservation due to how busy they were and were given complementary champagne while we waited. Our waiter Geraldo was very attentive and changed my husband’s drink when he didn’t like it and came back to table several times to check on us. Two managers came to our table as well to apologized again and offered us complementary Rose’. We had the lobster and crab cakes as an appetizer and it was delicious. For dinner my husband had the Steak and Lobster with asparagus and I had the Sliced Filet Mignon with onions and mushrooms. I normally do not like cooked onions however these tasted delicious and I finished the entire plate. My hubby asked for a medium steak and was given a well done which they took back and remade and brought out lobster bisque. The anniversary cheesecake and chocolate espresso cake were good as well. We had a fantastic time celebrating our anniversary and truly appreciated the attentive service from everyone. Would definitely come again!
