PROBLEMIC FOOD SAFETY CONCERN, REALLY MEAN MANAGER, AND COLLECTING CUSTOMER'S CREDIT CARD INFORMATION
Today, we went to Volcano Hot Pot and BBQ for lunch as we always do. However, the experience this time made us really disappointed with their food quality/safety and customer services. We have been in this restaurants many times as the local food geek and we really enjoyed the snow crabs this restaurants offers. However, this time the snow crabs had massive bug-looking stuff. We did not know what those things were and afraid if they created the food safety issue. we reported it to the server and manager with an aim of helping them find the food issue and further improve their food quality. The way this manager handled this issue really upset us as the customers who always went to this restaurant. First, no apologies were given to us. Second, reply to us with the statement (you guys always eat here and each time you come you take a lot of snow crabs, indicating that we took advantage of them). However, this is the all you can eat restaurant and we paid for what we ate. Additionally, some of my family members ate very little every time. Thirdly, it seems that the manager assumed that we wanted to take advantage of the restaurant, which we never did. The server (the nice lady) even did a better job on customer communication than that manager. Apology first and then try to explain the whole picture. We have been to a lot of hot pot restaurants, KPOT, U&Me, etc. This manager simply ruined the trust we have with Volcano Hot Pot and BBQ. The bug-looking stuff on snow crabs really looked disgusting and we almost vomited out during the way back home.
This is way beyond what I can image since I have been in the United State for more than 15 years. The way this restaurant replied to me is way over than a qualified restaurant can do to the customers. We are the customers and we do not need to google the weird things you as a restaurant can offer. Regarding the tips, are you crazy even after you unprofessional way to treat the customers (and we even paid you the tips without enjoying our meal). If you think this is a normal thing, please put it on the menu so the customers can read before eating. We never harm you as a small business. Instead we always support you as the local business by eating in your restaurant many times. Without an apology and with this aggressive response, I think I as a customer will move forward to the legal proceeding.
Also, since you think you are in the United States longer, let me tell you how to calculate the tips: We have three adults, and one kid. when you calculate the tip, you should not consider the kid. Additionally, the tip should not be taken into consideration with the tax you put on the meal. We paid you about 15% of tip for the meal. Please do not cheat on the public.
By the way, it seems like that you collected the customer's credit card information. this is a big no for a business without the consent from the customers. This will be brought to DBPR as well. Hopefully, the DBPR will judge this...
Read moreVolcano Hot Pot & BBQ in Kissimmee offer an all-you-can-eat dining experience that’s definitely unique — but whether it’s worth the price depends on what you’re looking for. I visited with a party of seven on a Thursday evening, and to our surprise, there was no wait at all. That was a great start and made the place seem very group-friendly.
The concept is fun: you get a built-in grill for BBQ and your own bubbling pot for hot pot. You choose your meats, veggies, noodles, and sauces, and cook everything at your table. It’s interactive and definitely different from your typical restaurant dinner.
We especially enjoyed the BBQ brisket, which was tender and flavorful. The spicy hot pot broth was also enjoyable — bold and warming without being overpowering. The variety of ingredients was solid, though not mind-blowing. Still, there was enough to keep our group engaged and full.
That said, the value didn’t quite live up to the $36.99 per person price tag — especially when you factor in that kids under the age of 11 who are 5 feet tall or more are also charged full price. That felt a bit excessive and definitely something to be aware of if you're dining with taller children. While the food was good, the cost adds up quickly, and the "all-you-can-eat" label doesn't necessarily guarantee you're getting your money's worth unless you really load up.
Service was decent — staff were available when needed, and the place was clean and well-organized. The atmosphere was lively but not chaotic, which made it enjoyable to sit and eat for a while.
Overall, it’s a good place to try for the experience, especially with a group. But personally, I didn’t feel like I got full value for the price. If you're going mainly for the novelty and variety, it might be worth it — just be prepared for a higher bill, and don’t bring your tall kids unless they’ve got a grown-up...
Read moreMy first time visiting because of distance, please save your time and money i believe this is a complete rip-off. First off for $35 I’m highly disappointed. I’m used to Kpot and here’s my reason why. This place has not enough items for its name and price. Very few selection of sauces, No vegetables can be aten or put on the grill… the meat flavors was very bland no authentic Korean taste at all. I’d probably had two plates of the same meat. (Edit) The service was OK server didn’t check so often but that’s not the problem here…though but I’ll never be back because of the food. Grille don’t get hot enough. They also used a weird piece of paper to cook food with and it’s just not up to par. Sorry but this is my honest opinion for $35 for nothing please save your money and go somewhere else. Get your money and times worth. I was so mad I hustled got up paid left a tip because the server had nothing to do with the food, and I’d left.
Edit ✍️ I’m not the problem, evidently it’s your small business. Bbq is usually 28-30 bucks extra for hot pot, I feel like you charged me for the portion for hot pot and bbq..where’s the rest if the FOOD?? Guess who’s contacting BB in regards of this matter. Very unprofessional to talk to people who comes into your place of business. And FYI it’s Korean BBQ not volcano, best name for your establishment. You’ll be loosing a lot of business and money behind your attitude. Not my problem my bill was paid, and tipped but I’ll be leaving my honest review on ALL SOCIAL...
