Around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov 6th, this year, I decided to order food in person. Upon entering Chilis parking lot I noticed that there were very few cars to my surprise because every time I've gone the parking lot is usually 75% full. I went to the To Go part, ordered my food (an Old Timer burger, no cheese with extra onion, substituted cole slaw instead of fries, roasted street corn, cheese cake, and chips and salsa. I had the pleasure of meeting Emory who took my order. My meal also came with a drink so I ordered a Magarita. I wanted to have the drink while I waited for my food to be prepared but was told that I couldn't. I decided since I couldn't have the drink that came with the meal and ordered the Margarita from the bar. Besides me there were six others sitting at the bar. A young lady, Meadow, was tending bar. The Margarita was a bit sweet so I ordered a shot of tequila to add to it. As I'm sitting, waiting for my order a man at the far end of the bar, to my left, tried to have a conversation with me. However, in his HIGHLY INTOXICATED state I couldn't understand his utterances. I told him to enjoy his evening, ignored him and continued to wait for my food. My food finally came. I decided to check my order and found there was no corn, no coleslaw, but my burger had coleslaw on it. I brought this to Meadow's attention, pulled out my receipt and she immediately alerted the back of the house my order was incorrect. I had no problem waiting for them to correct. While I'm sitting and waiting for my corrected order this HIGHLY INTOXICATED man walks over to me at the same time Nicole, another server, brings my burger. This man invades my space, puts his arm around my shoulders, rubbing my shoulders, while asking if Nicole is my daughter. I tell this man "touchy/feely time is over and PLEASE stop touching me and YES Nicole is my daughter, of course I lied. This man was there when I walked inside Chilis, had apparently been there for a while drinking and getting drunk but none of the employees came to my aid. I looked around with pleading eyes to no avail. I didn't know this man, didn't know if he was going to cause harm to me or to all of us. He could have had a gun, a knife....anything. I was so upset that I asked Nicole to watch me walk to my car; by this time it's almost 10:00 p.m. Nicole was getting off so we walked out together. I got home and just started to hyperventilate and cry. After calming down, I called Chilis, asked for the manager. To my surprise the manager was Emory. I explained to her what happened, began to get upset again, and her response was, "Why didn't you come get me? I'm the manager." This took the cake!!! Just how was i suppose to know this young girl was the manager?? She had no name tag nor ANYTHING identifying her as even an employee. I am 68 years old, this manager looked to be between 25-30 yrs. I told her the best thing that probably should have been done was to STOP SERVING OBVIOUSLY INTOXICATED customers as this could have turned into something worse. She advised that she would meet with her staff to discuss this incident i gave her my phone numbers to contact me to which she responded that she DEFINITELY would as she didn't want a repeat of what happened as well as agreeing with me to not serve alcohol to anyone who appeared EXTREMELY INTOXICATED. Today is Tuesday, Nov 8th, voting day and I have yet to receive a follow-up ANYTHING. Don't get me wrong...I like Chilis, most of the time, due to the relaxed ambience, however, my recent visit was something I never would have expected. I do believe that restaurants have the right to not serve any alcohol to a customer who is OBVIOUSLY, EXTREMELY INTOXICATED. It can become a danger to all those around. I don't know how soon I'll be going back there, if at all, due to the cavalier response I received from Emory, the "Manager." Dec 2, 2022...In retrospect if my order had been made right none of this would...
Read moreTonight was our first night eating at this location. Bad idea! From the time we walked in everything was all wrong. There was no hostess at the front waiting to seat customers. After waiting about 10mins we were finally approached to be seated. Once seated our table was dirty and sticky. Our waitress wasn't ready, so another took our drink orders so we could at least have our drinks. Our waitress came back with a napkin with hand sanitizer on it to wipe down the table. The drinks came out half wrong. Not only that she had to make my husbands drink 3 times because there was cilantro floating in it, which she gave up and ended up putting it in a to-go cup. She laughed about it everytime which I found nothing funny. Everytime I looked around the restaurant the waitress staff weren't doing much. I hate to describe ppl by looks etc. There was one heavy set waitress that was working her butt off, another with a red head scarf on she was working her butt off as well but wasn't very friendly. The manager had to do far too much work for her position when she had a full staff that could've been doing their jobs. She had to stop checking on customers to bring me another coke and A1 sauce. I could tell our waitress was fairly new if not her first day so we were more on the patient side with her, there was also a language barrier (not spanish). The food came out mediocre. My husband enjoyed his but he'll eat almost anything lol. We were starving by this point anyway. My daughter order chicken tacos, they came back with shrimp tacos I'm glad she checked because shes allergic. I had the shrimp, steak, chicken fajitas. My tortillas were over heated which made them hard after a minute or two of sitting. The pico was old, so was the guac. There weren't very many ppl in the restaurant to have so many problems. We will drive on down to New Braunfels like we have been doing even though we live literally 5mins from this location. He staff in Braunfels are more welcoming and the food is better quality. The ppl at this location seemed like they just hated life/their jobs. Except the 2 mangers 1 male, 1 female and the heavy set waitress and again I'm sorry to describe her that way but I never asked her name but was drawn to her presence. Even walking out the hostess had her back to us and did a look over her shoulder as she said goodbye. Poor customer...
Read moreWe went with a party of 7 on Easter around 530. On the website it says to call ahead if you have a party to put on a wait list. We did this but were told to just come in. Awesome, so instead of waiting at home which was like 3 min away, we waited in the restaurant for about 30 min. Not a bad wait, but the sticky benches they have inside were kinda gross. We got sat at a small 6 top table that literally had us arm to arm, we asked for a bigger table and our server cleaned off a bigger table and let us sit there. Now, this has nothing to really do with the server, as I will explain. He did his job, was courteous and tbh looked really exhausted..probably working all day. There was barely anyone in the restaurant guest wise, and from that and like the 3 servers we saw you could tell they were short staffed. We ordered our food and waited an hour for it to come out. Kinda crummy as I am pregnant and we were all hungry, but obviously they were also short staffed in the kitchen too as the manager would later explain. I have worked as a server so I get it. Our server refilled our drinks and honestly could not do much more for us. When the food came out, everyones came out except mine. There seemed to be a mix up and the server placed my order wrong. He fully owned up to that though and I was not mad, my family however...were very upset. Props to the server though for owning up to his mistake. I waited patiently because once again, short kitchen staffed, can't really expect them to cook shrimp and my meal super fast. My mom spoke to the manager though because it was kind of a long wait to be sat and for the food. My food was really good and I am assuming so was everyone elses because everyone ate all their food. I really don't wanna put this rating on the server, cause once again, i've been that server who puts in the wrong order, who has no control over the kitchen or being short staffed and he owned up to his mistake and came to talk to us. The manager comped my meal, and gave us a bit of a discount. It was just an awkward visit. We don't live in this area and were visiting family, but i hope it's not like that all the time. I hope they get the help they need to run waaaay more efficiently, and I gave 3 stars because the server kinda...
